Marketing and Communications Coordinator
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is an essential member of the Marketing and Communications team that will support efforts in increasing visibility and engagement with the Museum’s exhibitions, permanent collections, educational programs, and public events. This role will assist with marketing campaigns, social media management, email marketing, event promotion, and design collaboration to ensure brand consistency. This is a part-time, regular position that reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Education Operations Coordinator
The Education Operations Coordinator is an essential member of the Frederick A.O. Schwarz Education Center that will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the Education Center. The Coordinator supports the Manager, Field Trip Experiences in the daily operations of field trip reservations, providing high-level customer service to external educators and groups over the phone and via email in advance of their visit. The Coordinator also welcomes daily field trip groups arriving at the Museum, ensuring a seamless and organized experience from arrival to departure. In addition, the Coordinator assists with general operational and administrative needs for the department, including ordering and stocking materials, coordinating space bookings, helping with program set-up and break-down, and processing financial transactions. As a full-time member of the Education Center, they also take part in staff trainings, including in Museum exhibition content. The Education Operations Coordinator helps fulfill the Museum’s Education and Engagement mission by making it possible for students to engage with the Museum’s programs, where they examine the city’s past so that they may understand the present and envision their role in shaping the future. This is a full-time, regular position that reports directly to the Manager, Field Trip Experiences.
Museum Educator
The Museum Educator is an essential member of the Education team that will be primarily responsible for providing interactive learning experiences for K-12 audiences in the Museum’s gallery, classroom, and virtual programs, aka field trips. When they are not leading field trips, the Museum Educator is responsible for completing other Education projects as assigned, including administrative support, answering emails, developing and facilitating workshops and tours for family, educator, and other audiences, staffing MCNY events, and working at occasional offsite locations, including schools. Educators fulfill the Museum’s Education and Engagement mission and contribute to the future of the city by engaging learners in examining the city’s past so that they may understand the present and envision their role in shaping the future, and must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This is a part-time, regular position that reports directly to Assistant Director, Student and Family Learning.
Manager, Facilities
The Facilities Manager is an essential member of the Building Management team that will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the facility, including maintenance, custodial, security, and building operations – with a focus on event coordination and management. As the Manager of Facilities, you are essentially the face of the Museum for many who interact with our physical space. Your responsibilities extend beyond the technical aspects of building operations, encompassing a vital component of our visitor experience. Your attention to detail in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, coupled with your proactive approach to event management, is critical to creating a positive and lasting impression on our guests. This position oversees full-time and part-time security and custodial staff, as well as consultants as needed. This is a full-time, regular position that reports directly to the Chief Engineer/Director of Facilities.
Chief Curator and Deputy Director
The Museum seeks a visionary and strategic Chief Curator & Deputy Director to shape and lead the Museum's curatorial and content initiatives as it enters a transformative era. Working under the dynamic leadership of Director and President Stephanie Hill Wilchfort, the Chief Curator & Deputy Director will drive the creation of compelling, immersive, and meaningful experiences that resonate with diverse audiences and celebrate the complex history and culture of New York City. This role oversees a team of approximately 25 responsible for all exhibitions, public programs, educational offerings, and collection initiatives.
Internships
The Museum does not currently have any internship opportunities available at this time.
Volunteers
Primary Volunteer Positions are located at the Main Entrance Greeter Desk. Volunteers will be assigned a regular weekly two-hour time slot. Preference is given to those available on weekends. Some volunteers will initially be trained only as substitutes. Volunteers who have at least one year of experience at the Greeter Desk may apply to be trained as Docents to give exhibition tours to visitors.
