Make a tasty snack or a great side dish for a BBQ with these Baked Potato Chips.
I am a potato lover in all forms. I love them in potato salads, baked, mashed, chips, in casseroles, stuffed…all of them, I love them! A few weeks ago I was making burgers and trying to decide on a side item for our burgers. Of course the default is french fries but I was really craving a crunchy side dish. I decided to make Baked Potato Chips instead.
These were such a hit! They don’t take long to make at all and both my kids were snacking on them too, plus I almost always have potatoes on hand so they can be made just about anytime I get a craving for them. I like to dip mine in some homemade dill dip or ranch dip, but plain is tasty too. They turned out to be the perfect pairing to our burgers and one we will continue to make frequently.
I decided to use a knife to thinly slice these but a mandolin works just as well if not better. They need to be very thinly sliced, but I like to have them thick enough where they do not burn to a crisp in the oven. It takes a few minutes to find that happy medium but eventually you will find it. Then, I placed them on a greased cookie sheet and used a hight heat spray to coat the tops. I finished them off by evenly sprinkling them with sea salt.
Once I had them finished up, I simply baked them until they were slightly crispy.
Potato Perfection! That’s about what sums it up. These are simple to make and so inexpensive too. Not only are they tasty with burgers but also sandwiches throughout the summer months. We have sandwiches a lot for lunches, so I love to pair them with those too.

These look absolutely delicious. I love that you used sea salt to season with, too. I bet that adds such a lovely texture. Can’t wait to try these out the next time we have burgers!
Baked…you had me at baked. I am not a huge chips fan unless I am eating certain things like subs or something but I gotta have great chips. Making my own is not only better but I can add as much as I want to it.
I love when I cam make healthy snacks like this at home! Then I know beyond a shadow of a doubt whats in (or on) them and can be 100% certain they’re gluten free! With a severe gluten intolerence, I have to be very careful and end up making most of my own treats and snacks 🙂 I bet this would work well with sweet potatoes too!
Oh my goodness these not only look delicious but I’m drooling over the pictures. Looks like this recipe is going into my snack category! Thanks!
What a wonderful and simple idea! I love a snack of potato chips and I am sure these are amazing!
Potato chips are like my favorite food. But, I never thought about making them myself. Such a great idea! I’ll definitely be trying this recipe. Thanks so much for sharing.
