{KXLG – Watertown, SD} Participants lined up on the shores of Lake Kampeska with a chill in the air as the rescheduled 2025 Watertown Polar Plunge proved to be a resounding success, bringing the community together to support the athletes of Special Olympics South Dakota.
Held on Saturday, April 5th, at Stokes-Thomas Lake City Park, the event saw enthusiastic participation from individuals and organizations eager to brave the cold waters for a worthy cause, including a few from KXLG Radio: Ben Dylla, Jaden Thomas, and Tim Williams.
The collective efforts of participants and supporters resulted in an impressive $35,000 raised. This significant contribution will directly benefit the over 2,750 athletes of Special Olympics South Dakota, providing them with opportunities to train and compete in various sports.
Decked out in creative, Aloha-themed Hawaiian costumes, participants enthusiastically embraced the chilly dip into Lake Kampeska. The atmosphere was further enhanced by music and a strong sense of community, all united in their mission to support the Special Olympics.
