Mr. Odey filed an appeal at the SC and his appeal was struck out due to improper service. The appeal can be re-filed at the SC since it wasn't dismissed and no Order made. 1 Like |

I think indigenous Nigerian entrepreneurs should begin to see opportunities at times like this. I've been recharging and doing all my financial transactions thru Carbon App for a long time now and feel comfortable keeping my money with Carbon rather than First Bank or any other Commercial bank. Carbon has account number where customers can pay cash directly into Carbon account and recharge airtime free of charge. |

For 15000mAh PowerBank
|
![]() |
Most power banks will feature a number on the front that tells you the number of mAh or “milliamp-hour”. Common sizes range from 2,000mAh up to 10,000mAh or even 26,000mAh. Bigger numbers mean more power and more recharges for your smartphone, or charging for bigger devices that need more power, like a tablet. |

75000mAh Battery from a UPS

Ok Guys, Welcome back to our Nairaland Online Class that teaches how to DIY (Do-It-Yourself) projects. Its no news that the Nigerian economy is currently in recession. This coupled with the poor power supply has forced more Nigerians to have to adjust to a severe low level of living as the Pic below depicts. Today, we want to show you how you can make a cheap 75000mAh, 14000mAh & 21000mAh Power Bank yourself to charge your normal Phones, SmartPhones, Ipad and other small devices up to atleast 6 times before the Powerbank battery would require recharge again. This means that if your SmartPhone is fully charged by the PowerBank once, and runs out after heavy use, your powerbank would still have the capacity to recharge your SmartPhone to another full charge up to 6 more times. Interestingly, this Power Bank can be made from our everyday waste items; an old UPS. Items required:

We should stop using the word 'Missing' Chibok Girls, They are not 'missing' for goodness sake, they are currently being held hostage by their kidnappers; the Boko Haram Terrorist. They are 'Kidnapped' or 'abducted' Chibok Girls |

JayJustus: Acknowledged your call today, sorry was driving when you called and was on my way back to Phc from Uyo, reason for the delay in response. Yes have seen your setup even though the pic is not so clear. Let me take a pic from my ups here to show you how to silence the beeping sound on the UPS From the Pic Fill the small tip with a material or a masking tape to reduce the beeping sound of the USP

If you have always thought about installing a CCTV security camera system but did not have the money, knowledge, time or willingness, here is a great chance to start your project. |

Security Situation in Nigeria: You Can Turn you Old Web Camera and PC (Laptop or Desktop) into a CCTV Security Camera in just 10mins. Want to setup a CCTV Security Camera system in your home or small office as part of measures in checking or detecting intruders but don’t want to spend so much resources on it? Here's a few tip for that perfect solution. Your webcam can serve same purpose as the regular but expensive CCTV system. This is one of my DIY (Do-It-Yourself) projects after the recent one I posted on Poor Power Situation in Nigeria; How to Generate your own Power and save money. Here's the link just in case you missed it. https://www.nairaland.com/3177395/poor-power-supply-how-generate Now there are many free software that will not only convert your web cam into a CCTV but can do it in a professional way like motion detection, email alerts, remote viewing capability, sms alert etc. So here's a great opportunity to put those abandoned webcams to good use. Lets get started...!!! 1 Like |

Meanwhile, watch out for the next DIY thread on Security Situation in the country and how to convert an old Web Cam and your PC into a CCTV Surveillance system that can play back, zoom in and out to capture faces of intruders, tilt Camera for proper ,otion detection etc. Its a very simple project and all you need are your PC (desktop/laptop), Web Cam, and Cables. You can connect the Camera even to distances up to 150ft away from your PC and monitor movements around your vicinity that far. |

Thanks to everyone who have called to share their feedback on the work-ability of this DIY project. I wish you can also share on this thread so others can learn from your experiences and what different idea we can also add to make power generation in the country affordable and less dependent on PMS. |

1231awa: Yes, it can charge any amperage of battery. If you check the pic of the one I'm currently using, it says 10amp on the surface but I have used it to charge 100ah and it worked perfectly. |

To everyone who have visited this thread and read this post, I appeal to you for just one thing, try it out carefully on your own, its a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) project. If you have any question, call me on my contact +2348059985262 (as many have done already) and after you succeed, come back here to testify if it worked or not so others can learn. If it works, then we can all help each other in reducing excessive reliance on PHCN and PMS to power our generators 24/7. Secondly, as someone rightly said, “Necessity is the mother of all inventions” this could lead to a more refined and sophisticated invention that could provide an alternative and sustainable means to fuel/power conservation/ utilization in Nigeria. I hereby challenge anyone who is more experienced in alternative power backup to first try it out and then come here to trash or approve its workability and or improvement. If young people in other climes are helping to make things work better, we in Nigeria can do much more if we try. Finally, let me use this opportunity to thank everyone who complimented the idea here on NL and from those who called and to also emphasis in all clarity that I posted the thread (and will continue to post more threads) with no intention of selling a product or making extra money for myself but to sell an idea to anyone who would dare to take up the challenge and do something different. We all need to help one another from the current power and security situation in the country. Thank you. 7 Likes |

omejeo: Any UPS brand will work only ensure its still working but has battery issue. |
![]() |
mkbessman: While setting up the device, i wanted to know how long it would take to charge the batteries with just the UPS. i discovered with a digital metre that it might take several days before a 38Ah battery would be fully charge so i had to introduce an external battery charge and when i did, it took just 5mins to hit maximum charge. Although this could be depending on the drain level so you could charge for more time after complete drain. |

omejeo: Online on konga.com or Computer Village in Lagos. I heard there is a WisperPower Battery Charger |

1231awa: Not exactly. 100Ah deep Sealed in Port Harcourt goes for about N40k. I also recommended a 38Ah (keke battery which is readily available anywhere you find a keke shop) x 2 = 76Ah for N20k (N10k each) |
