National Association of School Psychologists Announces Winners of Annual Awards

BETHESDA, MD-The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) is proud to announce the recipients of its two most prestigious annual awards. Dr. Wendy Price has been named the School Psychologist of the Year, and Dr. Stephen Brock has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dr. Wendy Price, a school psychologist at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School in Whitman, MA, has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to the field. With a career spanning 23 years, Dr. Price has demonstrated a remarkable ability to design multitiered supports for students and foster productive communication and collaboration among teams. Her genuine empathy and unwavering commitment to understanding the needs of others have made her an invaluable asset to her district and the wider school psychology community.
"Dr. Price is the type of school psychologist that every student deserves to have and is a model for what every school psychologist should strive to become," said Dr. Matthew Dubois, President of the Massachusetts School Psychologists Association (MSPA). "Because of what she has meant to the students, families, and staff in her district; the trainees she has worked with; the students and staff at UMass Boston, and what she has meant to both MSPA and NASP, Dr. Price is more than deserving of recognition as the NASP School Psychologist of the Year."
Dr. Stephen Brock, who serves as a professor of school psychology and coordinator of the graduate training program at California State University, Sacramento, has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Throughout his remarkable career, Dr. Brock has made significant contributions to the field of school psychology, including the development of the PREPaRE School Crisis Prevention and Intervention Curriculum. His leadership roles at the state and national levels, as well as his extensive research and authorship, have solidified his reputation as a trailblazer in the profession.
"In my estimation, Steve's level of achievement over his illustrious 41-year career stands unrivaled," stated Dr. Andrea Clyne, President of the National Association of School Psychologists. "His unwavering commitment to providing comprehensive school psychological services, his impactful roles within professional associations, and his prolific research have left an indelible mark on the field."
These NASP awards recognize the exceptional contributions and dedication of school psychologists who go above and beyond to support the well-being and success of children. Dr. Price's and Dr. Brock's achievements exemplify the highest standards of professional conduct and serve as inspirations to their colleagues. The awards will be presented at NASP's annual convention in February 2024 in New Orleans, LA.
