Although most of his family hailed from north of the border in Aberdeenshire, Ewan was brought up in 'Hadrian's Wall country’, north east Cumbria. He was fortunate to be raised in the wild uplands of the north Pennines, on the second largest RSPB nature reserve where his father, John, was the conservation warden on the 12,000 acre site.

Ewan created Nature Scotland in 2015 as he was passionate about the potential of providing nature-based experiences that are a more powerful education, research and conservation tool.

Ewan has recently completed a BSc in Environmental Science and is the BTO Regional Rep for North Argyll and the Mull Bird Recorder.

Wildlife Media is another big passion of Ewan's and he has had multiple video sequences featured on BBC Springwatch and in 2021/22 he worked as a camera operator/wildlife consultant for the popular BBC series.

Theo is a midlands based naturalist. He was introduced to the natural world at a young age and having gained an extended diploma in Countryside Management decided to pursue a career in conservation. He has spent 2 years working as a reserve warden in North Norfolk where his passion for the natural world grew to a new level.

In his spare time Theo enjoys amateur photography, bird ringing, moth trapping and seawatching, but birdwatching is his main passion inparticular ageing and identification, migration and seeking out rarities that may escape the untrained eye, leading to him becoming a Bird Records Committee member.

Jack Waldie is a marine scientist and naturalist currently residing in Oban.

He spent his childhood running around the countryside south of Inverness forming a love of nature which has followed him into adulthood. Jack moved to the west coast to complete a degree in Marine Science, but he quickly fell in love with its coastline and islands.

Despite having travelled as far afield as Costa Rica to conduct animal surveys he knows the west coast of Scotland is truly unrivalled for wildlife experiences. He spent last summer spotting Basking Sharks around the Hebrides and has a particular passion for sea birds - his enthusiasm for which is easy to catch!

Klay is a naturalist from southern England in Hertfordshire! At an early age, Klay developed a passion for raptors and the marine environment, leading him to university to complete his Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology.

He has spent many years undertaking numerous wildlife surveys, from small mammals and Birds to Moths and Butterflies. Last summer, Klay did some wildlife guiding work for Hebrides Cruises, leading guests ashore to St Kilda and many other Hebridean islands.

He is also a keen wildlife photographer and will often spend his free time searching for wildlife to photograph, with his photography travels taking him across the continent from the Steppes of Spain to the frigid Arctic Circle in Norway.

Iolo Williams is a Welsh naturalist, broadcaster, public speaker and writer who has worked in conservation for more than 30 years.

Born and bred in mid-Wales, he worked for the RSPB for nearly 15 years before leaving to follow a career in the media.

He has presented more than 20 series for BBC Wales and S4C and, for the past 6 years, has been one of the regular team of presenters on the BBC’s popular “Springwatch’, ‘Autumnwatch’ and ‘Winterwatch’ programmes.

He has written several books in both English and Welsh and is a regular contributor to several magazines including ‘BBC Wildlife’.

John is an environmentalist, conservationist, author and wildlife guide.

His career began working in forestry before fourteen years working with the RSPB, which included wardening positions at Loch of Kinnordy, Leighton Moss and Geltsdale.

​He has led Birdwatching tours all around the world, in locations including North America, Iceland and Egypt. 

​

One of his recent projects is writing natural history literature with titles including 'Pharaohs Birds', 'Hadrian's Wildlife' and 'The Solway'. He has also had six children's books published from his new 'Chick Books' series. View his website here - www.chickbooks.co.uk

John also currently writes articles for the national 'Birdwatching' magazine along with book reviews, which are also published in the BBC Wildlife

magazine. 

Gordon Buchanan MBE is a Scottish wildlife cameraman, filmmaker and presenter. He was brought up on the Isle of Mull from a very young age, and a lot of his family still live in Tobermory. Gordon occasionally leads packages on Mull with ourselves, and we hope to collaborate with him again in the near future!

His work includes the nature documentaries Tribes, Predators & Me, The Bear Family & Me, The Polar Bear Family & Me and Life in the Snow.

Dave Sexton is the former RSPB Scotland eagle officer on the Isle of Mull and has lived there with his family since 2003. His main role was to monitor the island's white-tailed eagles which have made the islands their home since they first bred there in 1985. Prior to Mull, Dave was Head of Reserves for the RSPB managing the Society's extensive land holdings in Scotland.

He has previously worked for Aigas Field Centre near Inverness and for the BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol. He studied anthropology at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and also worked on the reintroduction of peregrine falcons to the Eastern Shore whilst there. Furthermore, he has subsequently worked with the Peregrine Fund on the reintroduction of California condors in Arizona.
