It may be early February, but Tulsa is basking in spring-like warmth with highs soaring 20-25 degrees above normal for this time of year.

With highs reaching the low 70s tomorrow, Tulsans can enjoy a taste of spring before a cold front shakes things up midweek.

☀️ What to Expect This Week:

  1. Monday: Sunny & warm – high of 71° (20° above normal!)
  2. Tuesday: A cold front arrives – temperatures depend on where it stalls
  3. Wednesday: Front lifts north, bringing 60s & 70s back
  4. Thursday & Friday: Slightly cooler with a chance of rain

❄️ The Cold Front’s Uncertain Path

The biggest weather factor this week is a cold front moving in Tuesday. Its position will determine whether Tulsa stays mild or sees a cooldown.

“This will change,” Gold noted. “If the front stalls near I-40, areas south stay warm while those north cool down.”

By Wednesday, the front is expected to retreat north, bringing back spring-like warmth before another cool dip Thursday and Friday.

🔥 Enjoy the Warmth While It Lasts

  1. Highs in the 70s today & tomorrow – perfect for outdoor plans
  2. Cooler Tuesday, but exact temps are uncertain
  3. Another warm-up midweek before temps fluctuate again

Weekend forecast

Heading into next week, there is still some uncertainty about our temperatures and just how long our early spring fling lasts.

Temperatures on Monday still appear nice and warm with much of Green Country again reaching well into the upper 60s to around 70 degrees, but a cold front will be looming just to our north.

There is a slight chance that the front could nudge its way into southeastern Kansas and far northern Oklahoma on Monday, in which case our far northern counties could end up much cooler than currently forecast.

Temperature Departures

There is also uncertainty on how far south that cold front makes it from late Monday into Tuesday.

As of now, we’re expecting the springlike warmth to continue into Tuesday and Wednesday as that front retreats back to our north, but if that cold front lingers near the Oklahoma/Kansas state line our northern counties could end up quite a bit cooler.

By late next week, a second stronger cold front is on the horizon with more winter-like temperatures likely making a return to Green Country.

Extended Outlook:

  1. Monday, February 3: Very warm with sunshine and a few clouds, high of 74°F (23°C), low of 40°F (4°C).
  2. Tuesday, February 4: Mild with periods of clouds and sunshine; an afternoon shower in places, high of 61°F (16°C), low of 49°F (10°C).
  3. Wednesday, February 5: Warmer with sunshine and a few clouds, high of 73°F (23°C), low of 45°F (7°C).
  4. Thursday, February 6: Cooler with plenty of sun, high of 59°F (15°C), low of 34°F (1°C).
  5. Friday, February 7: Plenty of sunshine, high of 58°F (14°C), low of 50°F (10°C).

Bring Pets Inside!

Winter temperatures can pose additional challenges for pets, particularly older animals or those with health conditions. Hartfield recommends:

  1. Wellness Checks: Ensure pets are up to date on vaccines and discuss arthritis or other cold-weather health concerns with a veterinarian.
  2. Outdoor Time: Monitor the duration of outdoor activities, especially for short-haired breeds or pets with conditions like diabetes or heart disease.
  3. Paw Care: After walks, inspect and clean paws to remove ice or de-icing chemicals that could harm your pet.

How Can I Protect Myself From Sickness This Winter?

The Tulsa Health Department is urging residents to receive flu and COVID-19 vaccinations to prevent respiratory illnesses as Oklahoma enters the coldest months of the year.

  1. Health experts say the risk of respiratory illnesses is higher during the winter, as colder weather often leads to more indoor gatherings, increasing the likelihood of viruses spreading.
  2. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Oklahoma is one of 11 states with very high respiratory virus activity, and with flu vaccination rates lower than this time in 2024, more people have reported getting sick.
