Please note that NINR cannot provide health care advice to individuals about medical conditions, treatments, or quality of care being received, nor can we provide referrals to health care providers or facilities. NINR urges you to work with your health care provider(s) to obtain answers to your specific, personal health questions.

Reasonable Accommodations

For reasonable accommodations to participate in an NINR event, please contact Dr. Edmond Byrnes ([email protected], 301-496-0235). Please make your request at least five days in advance of the NINR event.

NIH's Office of Research Services provides centrally funded sign language interpreting and CART (real-time transcription) services to the NIH Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. As one of the 27 ICs at NIH, NINR can request these services as a reasonable accommodation to D/HH individuals, including employees, contractors, patients, and visitors, to participate in NINR-related events and activities, per section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

NIH Language Access Services

If you require language access assistance to participate in an NINR event, please contact Dr. Edmond Byrnes ([email protected], 301-496-0235).

Federal agencies must take reasonable steps to ensure that Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals have meaningful access to Federal programs and activities, in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, and Executive Order 13166.

NIH uses the NIH Language Access Services: Translation and Interpretation (LASTI) Portal to secure interpretation and translation services. The goal of this service is to help our ICs remove language barriers, increase access to NIH services and programs, and meet the linguistic demands of our customers.
