Education
In an effort to address educational gaps – including kindergarten preparedness, 3rd grade reading levels, and high school dropout rates, PBS SoCal works directly with the local community and educators. The PBS SoCal Education team has designed educational materials and activities for children with the desire to make learning fun, engaging, and easy to incorporate into their daily routines. Community Engagement & Impact
At PBS SoCal, we believe in media for the public good, and aim to connect the stories we share with the community in thoughtful and engaging ways. We create opportunities for connection and conversation by complementing our programming with screenings, convenings, trainings, or educational resources.
We also believe that, as the primary PBS station in the country’s entertainment capital, we have the unique opportunity to provide training and experience to the next generation of media-makers and offer internships and support unique mentorship and educational opportunities in our region such as Student Reporting Labs.
Our Events Resource Library provides direct community access to our original content and resources. This free digital library gives organizations the tools they need to host a successful convening in their community by providing customizable promotional resources, activities, and downloadable screening content to engage audiences. We seek to share local stories with communities across Southern California and foster a dialogue to increase understanding, build a sense of belonging, and connect people to each other and to their world.

Community Partnerships
We collaborate with a wide range of partners—everyone from community organizations, thought leaders, cultural and educational institutions, and peer-based organizations to deepen the impact of our work and make sure our programming reflects and is valuable to the vast array of communities we serve.
Over the years, PBS SoCal has developed artistic, cultural and educational community engagement initiatives – thanks in large part to the partnerships we’ve developed. Cultural institutions like the Music Center, the Huntington Library, the Natural History Museum, LA Opera, The Getty Museum, the Los Angeles LGBT Center, USC and UCLA have partnered with us to expand the availability of cultural experiences across the region. And community partners like LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, local Boys & Girls Clubs, First Five California, and K-12 schools across the region have joined us to bring critical educational experiences to neighborhoods across our community.
