Welcome to Portland Monthly's 21st annual list of the metro area's top doctors, nurses, and more, as chosen by their peers. Every year, we ask local medical providers to answer a burning question: Who are the people they turn to when their families need care, or when they themselves get sick? The resulting list includes MDs, osteopaths, podiatrists, nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, optometrists, licensed acupuncturists, chiropractors, physician associates, naturopathic physicians, and physical therapists.

Our survey is far from perfect: People who work for large medical groups where lots of coworkers are familiar with their practice definitely have an edge, for example, and some specialties are not captured here. But the names listed below are a great starting point for when you find yourself asking who you want to look after your family.
