The time has come once again for Philadelphia’s first Black Major League Baseball superstar to get a shot at election to National Baseball Hall of Fame. The late great Dick Allen who spent 8 full seasons with the Phillies is one of eight names on Classic Baseball Era Committee ballot.

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Hall of Fame players Paul Molitor, Eddie Murray, Tony Pérez, Lee Smith and Ozzie Smith are among 16 members of the classic era committee that will consider an eight-man Hall ballot that includes Dick Allen, Dave Parker and Luis Tiant.
