Online English Lessons

We teach English by developing a

grammatical understanding of the subject.

English can leave some people wondering where and how to start.  We approach English through 4 basic steps:

Accuracy;  Description;  Planning;  Editing.

We make sure that pupils can accurately identify and use word classes, put them together to make sentences and then link writing to form paragraphs and larger texts so that they feel confident.  We also make sure they understand what they are doing and why they are doing it.  Putting English into real-life contexts gives it purpose and value.  We develop techniques to plan writing so that pupils are able to avoid frustrating writer's block - they learn how to start and how to improve.  This emphasis on developing an improved control over writing builds confidence and competence.   It does not replace or take priority from our pupils' growing engagement with English writing in its many forms.

Our pupils know why they are learning & how they can apply their skills.

How we break down the curriculum.

Each pupil will come with a different level of understanding which will vary from topic to topic. Time spent on each aspect of English will vary according to the individual so please use the amount of suggested lessons per section as a guide.
