Vote up the loudest anime characters who never stop shouting.

Break out the earplugs, because it's time to put the spotlight on loud anime characters.

Sometimes, anime characters who scream a lot are doing it out of anger - Katsuki Bakugo from My Hero Academia is overflowing with so much uncontrollable rage that he can't help shouting about everything from brushing his teeth to his rivalry with Midoriya. It's not always about being mad, though - Asta from Black Clover is just really enthusiastic about being the next Wizard King, and Harunobu Nikaidou from March Comes In Like A Lion really wants to be everyone's friend.

These are the characters who make you want to turn the volume down on your TV, computer, or tablet - or make you want to shout along with them.

  • Asta - 'Black Clover'

Nearly every word out of Asta's mouth is a shrill screech that's so irritating it literally stops some potential fans from watching the show. Everything he says, from his insistence that he's going to be the wizard king to his requests that one of the nuns who raised him to marry him, is shouted. Unfortunately, this is also one of the few things that distinguish Asta from the shonen protagonist formula. When the only thing that makes you unique is how loud and annoying your voice is, you know you're not doing so hot.

  • Given that he's a huge scaredy-cat, it's not surprising that Zenitsu is known for his loud and obnoxious voice. Whether it's running away from demons or yelling "Nezuko-chan," it's a good idea to turn down your volume whenever he appears onscreen.

  • Katsuki Bakugo never stops screaming. Ever. Whether he's brushing his teeth, chopping vegetables, going through an obstacle course, or even thinking about Midoriya, everything that comes out of his mouth is shouting.

If you watch the subbed version of My Hero Academia, Bakugo's constant screaming is even more alarming, because it's punctuated with gasping that sounds almost asthmatic. His hero outfit had better have pockets large enough to carry an inhaler.

  • In the very first scene of Yuri!!! on ICE, Yuri Plisetsky kicks down a bathroom door and screams in Yuri Katsuki's face. This pattern repeats itself throughout the series, often triggered by things like wanting Victor to pay attention to him, frustration with the rigors of being a professional athlete who is still treated like a child, and irritation with JJ's existence. Just about the only person he never shouts at is his grandfather, who he loves too much to ever say a negative word to.

  • Chi-Chi isn't necessarily the loudest person in the Dragon Ball Z universe - Goku and Vegeta can probably generate a more intense volume when declaring their attacks - but for not being a Saiyan with exceptionally powerful lungs, Chi-Chi is pretty darn loud. What's more, she yells all the time. Usually, she's upset about Goku destroying her house, accidentally unleashing his full strength on her, putting their son in danger, or otherwise being a terrible husband and father.

  • To be fair to Sakura, some of her yelling is internal - her inner self covers a lot of her screaming at the beginning of the series. But Sakura also spends plenty of time yelling out loud - often at Naruto for various forms of foolish behavior. It's hard to blame her - if you were stuck working with someone who was just as likely to antagonize an ostrich or eat 60 bowls of ramen in one shot as he is to do anything useful, you'd yell at him too.

  • If you didn't want Edward Elric to shout, you shouldn't have called him short. Or criticized his alchemy skills. Or breathed too loudly next to him. The Fullmetal Alchemist might be brilliant, talented, and dedicated to his profession, but he doesn't know how to moderate his volume, and freely uses his voice at full blast whenever he's the least bit irritated.

  • Taiga might look tiny and adorable, but that doesn't mean she's quiet. Actually, she's quite the opposite - think about how much chihuahuas and other tiny dogs bark in comparison to big ones, and you'll have an idea of how loud she is. Whenever she's angry, which is often, she'll start yelling about it with no hesitation. The yelling can be about anything, but it often crops up when Ryuuji annoys her or when Ami insults her. It's only when she's overcome with other emotions - like love for Ryuuji - that she pulls back on the shouting.

  • Tilestone - 'One Piece'

Tilestone doesn't speak - he shouts. Even when he has to be quiet in order not to hurt someone's ears or to keep himself hidden, he'll still yell. His coworkers accommodate him by talking to him from far away, but he still doesn't seem to have figured out just how loud he is.

  • Tasuki - 'Fushigi Yugi'

Each member of the Suzaku Seven has something that sets them apart. In Tasuki's case, it's loudness. If he has an opinion on something - and he often does - he'll shout it. He screams his attacks when battling enemies, and argues at the top of his lungs with Tamahome.

  • Espa Roba - 'Yu-Gi-Oh!'

    Espa Roba - 'Yu-Gi-Oh!'

    451 votes

Just about everyone in Yu-Gi-Oh! gets ridiculously loud when they're dueling - does playing a powerful card really count unless you bellow about it at the top of your lungs? While all of them can get seriously ear-splitting, no one is as loud as Espa Roba,  the green-haired psychic who opposes Yugi toward the beginning of the series. Everything he says is practically shrieked.

  • Death The Kid can be quiet - unless something is dirty or asymmetrical. Once his obsession with symmetry has been triggered, he'll readily be hollering at the top of his lungs while frantically trying to straighten out whatever he's taken issue with. Not only is he unfathomably loud, but he's also obviously upset when this happens, so his shouting is a little less funny than some of the others, even if it's often played off as a joke.

  • Yasutomo Arakita - 'Yowamushi Pedal'

The only person who Arakita doesn't scream at is Fukutomi, the captain of his bike team. Other than that, he's constantly yelling at the top of his lungs about just about everything, from Toudou's inability to stop bragging about himself to Manami's absentmindedness. Even though his messages are delivered a little more forcefully than some people might like, he's usually right.

  • Squalo - 'Katekayo Hitman Reborn'

    365 votes

Squalo is a member of the Vongola Famiglia's independent assassination squad, and he's of its most intelligent, level-headed members... but he's still ridiculous and still super loud. In fact, he's so loud that he even has a catchphrase he likes screaming - "voi!" which is an Italian way of angrily saying "you!"

  • Harunobu Nikaidou - 'March Comes In Like A Lion'

Harunobu Nikaidou - 'March Comes In Like A Lion'

    332 votes

Harunobu Nikaidou is one of the most enthusiastic characters in anime history. He loves playing shogi, loves his self-proclaimed best friend Rei Kiriyama, and responds to both of these things with loud excitement. All that shouting is a little much for Rei, who is a lot more introverted, but it also forces him to come out of his shell a little bit. Also, all that happy energy keeps Nikaidou from feeling too depressed about his own life circumstances, which involve a serious chronic kidney disease.
