The Rover Car Company can trace its roots to the traditions of many other car manufacturers including MG, with their brands becoming entwined over the years. The 2005 range of Rover cars furthered this tradition. Unfortunately for UK motorists, the Rover Group is now in administration and production has ceased. Previously, Rover had established itself as a producer of high quality cars, with many of its latest models having luxury features such as wood dashboard fascias and leather interiors, air-conditioning, alloy wheels and CD players.
There have been three distinct generations of the Rover 200. The first generation was a four-door saloon car based on the Honda Ballade. The second generation was available in three or five-door hatchback forms, as well a coupé and cabriolet (in relatively small numbers). Its sister model, the Honda Concerto was built on the same production line in Rover's Long bridge factory. The final generation was developed independently by Rover on the platform of its predecessor, and was available as a three or five-door hatchback.
