Eagles vs. Giants 2013 game recap: Philadelphia pulls away for 36-21 win

The Giants couldn't hold a second-half lead and drop to 0-5 on the season.

The New York Giants' 2013 woes continued Sunday as they lost a second-half lead to fall, 36-21, to the Philadelphia Eagles.

After grabbing a short-lived two-point lead late in the third quarter, they surrendered 17 unanswered points to fall to 0-5 on the year. The Eagles improve to 2-3.

With the Giants trailing, 19-14, late in the third quarter, Eli Manning connected with Jerrel Jernigan to convert a critical third-and-4. Two plays later, Manning found Rueben Randle in the back of the end zone for a 6-yard go-ahead touchdown. The Eagles would then retake the lead at the end of the quarter with a 41-yard field goal to make it 22-21.

Fourteen fourth-quarter unanswered points would put the game away for the Eagles. Nick Foles, who took over for Michael Vick late in the second quarter after Vick injured his leg, connected with Brent Celek for a 25-yard touchdown to push the lead to 29-21. DeSean Jackson then grabbed a 5-yard touchdown from Foles with 8:32 remaining.

The winless Giants got off on the right foot with an early go-ahead touchdown, capping their opening drive with David Wilson dropping his head and bulling into the end zone for a 5-yard score. The Eagles responded by rattling off 19 unanswered points. After a pair of Alex Henery field goals, LeSean McCoy took a handoff up the middle for a 1-yard touchdown to give the Eagles their first lead. Henery would add two more field goals before the half, including a 36-yarder with four seconds remaining in the second quarter.

Fantasy studs and duds

Eli Manning put up big numbers -- 334 yards and two touchdowns -- but couldn't avoid the turnovers that have plagued him all season, throwing three picks. Hakeem Nicks went for 142 receiving yards and Rueben Randle had 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Filling in for an injured Vick, Nick Foles passed for 197 yards and two scores. DeSean Jackson had a big day, piling up 132 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Injury report

David Wilson left the game in the first half with a neck injury and did not return. Michael Vick limped off with a hamstring injury on the Eagles' final possession of the first half and watched the remainder of the game from the bench. There's been no word on the two players' availability moving forward.
