Indigenous Australians are the original inhabitants of the Australian continent and nearby islands and the descendants of these peoples. They are distinguished as either Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
Culture Indigenous Australians culture includes sacred ceremonies and rituals. The ceremonial practices reflect on the aspects of the Aborigines life. Some traditional instruments are the didgeridoos, clap sticks and seed rattles. Totems Totems are symbols that acknowledge the flora and fauna. The totems are considered sacred by their owners. Each totem would have previously been owned by their parents ancestors. Totems never changed and are continually passed on to each generation. Totems have existed in traditional Indigenous life since the Dreaming. Dreamtime The Dreaming is a term used by Aboriginals to describe the relations and the balance between the spiritual, natural and moral elements of the world.
