Leco

1. LECO was established in 1973 to improve the unreliable electricity distribution system in Sri Lanka. It took over distribution from local authorities and CEB. 2. LECO's design philosophy for high voltage distribution is an interconnected radial system with sectionalized switching to provide alternative supplies. Overhead lines are used along roads to serve large customer areas. Low voltage distribution uses overhead insulated aluminum conductors. 3. Key equipment used includes poles, transformers, switches, conductors, and energy meters. Meters are either induction or electronic types. Meter testing and calibration procedures are discussed.
