On Wednesday year 3 took a trip to Kents Caverns in
Torquay. We had a brilliant time exploring the caves, foraging in the woodlands and acting as archaeologists uncovering beautiful gemstones - which we were allowed to keep! A very big thank you to Mrs Burrell, Mrs Cotton, Mrs Cox, Mrs Ralph and Mrs Southan for all their help. The whole of year 3 have been very inspired by their topic this term. The amount of learning they have been doing at home has been brilliant. Ive run out of Headteacher stickers!! Whats been happening in school this week? Newsletter - 9th October 2014 St Peters Church of England Primary School Well done to these two superstars. Marni and Abbi have demonstrated self control. They both know how to have fun with their friends in the playground but they are always calm and focused in the classroom. A lesson for all!! Harvest I really hope you can join us for the Harvest festival at St Peters church this Sunday at 10am. The children will be able to take part in the service and provide some much needed food for those who need it. I am happy to supervise any children if whole families cant attend. I thank you advance for all contributions. Stars of the week Harvest week It is a very important week in school this week, as we thank God for the Harvest and for the food he provides for us. There are many not as fortunate as us, so we are also about giving at times of need. Miss Smits class presented my with this lovely poster all about Harvest that they are going to share with us tomorrow. Well done Devon, Scarlett and Molly for sharing it with me. Trip to the supermarket Reception had a wonderful time at Tesco Exmouth finding out where our food comes from and how it gets to our plates. We tasted lots of fruit and vegetables, we went behind the scenes in the bakery and sampled some cheese. We even went out to the warehouse and saw the giant freezer. Newsround presented by Tom I was blown-away to find out we have a proper news presenter in the school!! Tom taught us all about Stonehenge through his Newsround presentation. Check it out on the web soon! Please keep checking this section for upcoming dates and events. Next Messy Church at St Peters hall: Thurs 16th Oct at 3:45pm. If you are interested in the position please email the Headteacher for an application form or collect one from the reception. Please support the Film Night! Our posters for our exciting film night on Friday 17th Oct are dotted around the school. The tickets for the film night, will be sold after school with the ice pops on the stage this Friday. They will also be sold on the stage after school all of next week. There are limited spaces first come, first served basis. St Peter's School children only. Christmas mealideas needed! Traditionally we have invited families in to share our Christmas Meal. However, I regret to tell you this will no longer be possible. Since last Christmas we have taken on the cooking of school meals for Drakes and Otterton. Cooking a Christmas Dinner is a huge undertaking, and we now no longer have the capacity to do this.
However, I am really keen that we still do something!! My initial thought is to get you in over a few afternoons to enjoy a mince pie with your child, and perhaps allow them to show you their classroom and work, including Christmas work, instead. This isnt a finalised plan yet. We are asking the children and staff to think about their wants and needs, and I am asking you to do the same. If you have a good idea how we can include you at Christmas (in addition to the Christmas play and Fayre) then please email me at [email protected] with your ideas or see me on the playground.
On that note, please be advised that the KS1/FS production is now at 2:30pm and not 2pm. School dinners From half term the price of a school meal will be increasing to 2.20. For a long time the school has kept the price of the meals very low (much lower than other schools*). However, we can no longer resist the pressures on costs, especially with food prices increasing. You may not realise that the school has to subsidise the cost of school meals. So please support us and send in your children for a lovely hot meal!! It helps with their learning and development! We are planning a new-look menu and a taster session for parents soon, so watch this space! *some schools in the area are charging up to 2.50. The governments set price is 2.30. Crossing update Thank you for your feedback on the school crossing patrol. We have now discussed the issue with the Governors, who have decided to investigate the possibility of getting the crossing patrol sponsored. If you know anyone that can help (6,000 for 3 years) or anyone that wants the job, please let me know! There will be more information in next weeks Journal. Finding out Did you know you can phone the school each day to find whats happening with regard to events and trips etc? Just call 443167 and choose the option to hear whats going on!
