Entrepreneurial Professional

Unit Description
This unit prepares students for innovative and entrepreneurial educational activity
within schools and communities. Entrepreneurial activity is interpreted as 1)
contributing to the knowledge society, 2) evaluating engaging and meaningful
learning activity within classrooms and communities through educational research,
and 3) initiating innovative and rewarding teaching and learning programs that draw
on a future orientated, informed educational knowledge base. The different ways that
entrepreneurship is defined and negotiated are acknowledged through inclusion of
Indigenous and intercultural perspectives. This unit enables students to link theory to
practice through completing a research project during a professional experience..
Learning Outcomes: On completion of this unit a student should be able to:
To enable pre-service teachers to engage in collaborative research in conjunction with
the school and community.
1. demonstrate understanding of the ethical requirements of research
2. collaborate in the writing of research reports and case studies
3. undertake structured or semi-structured interviews, & run discussion groups or
focus groups
4. analyse and interpret the results from questionnaires and surveys
5. evaluate their work-in-progress
6. report research outcomes and consider policy or practice implications
