1930s Game Rules
Objective:
The objective of the game is to have the most rations (currency for the
game) when everyone finishes going around the game board.
Context:
This game is based on the Great Depression in the United States
throughout the 1930s. Players will be asked content questions as the
experience the great depression through a persona card (farmer,
businessman, unemployed, etc.).
Materials:
1. Game board
2. One die
3. 5 Half marbles (to move around the game board)
4. 5 Persona cards
5. Blue questions cards
6. Rations (small white pieces of paper)
Playing the Game:
1. Each player draws a persona card
2. Deal the number of rations according to the persona card
3. Roll the die, highest number goes first followed by the person to
the right
4. Move all pieces to the green start in the center of the circle
5. First player rolls the die and moves the number of spaces as
shown on the die
6. If player lands on a blue space, the player to the right will pick up
a blue question card and ask the person who rolled the content
question on the card. The answer to this question is on the blue
card.
7. If the player answers the question correctly, he/she will receive
one ration.
8. If a player lands on a red or purple space he/she will follow the
directions on written directly on that space. (Red are generally
negative, and purple are generally positive).
9. Continue to move around the board until all players have circled
their way out of the game board.
10.
The player with the most rations at the end of the game
(when all players have reached the end of the board) wins.
11.
If you run out of rations at any point, you have to stand in
the soup line and lose your next turn. After you lose a turn, you
get two rations and can keep playing.
