Herminio G. Nicolas High School (HGNHS) kicked off Brigada Eskwela on May 18-23, 2015. A kick-off ceremony was held on the first day of the program wherein Mr. Benigno V. Calilap Jr., president of teacher organization of HGNHS, welcomed the participants on behalf of Mrs. Mercedes F. Bactol, HGNHS Principal, and defined the Department of Educations slogan: Tayo Para sa Edukasyon. Parents and other stakeholders should take part in supporting the school in all its programs and activities to hit its goals beyond baseline, Mr. Calilap said. He also added that their presence in the events like Brigada Eskwela signified strong ties between the school and responsive stakeholders which was a fundamental component of development especially now that the school is in preparation for the Senior High School Program of the K12 Curriculum. Mr. Eranio P. Reyes, FPTA President, also gave his welcome message to the participants. He urged the parents, students and alumni to help the school improve its surroundings during and up to the last day of the long-week run of the program as preparation for the opening of the School Year 2015-2016. After the program, Mr. Reyes led the parents in their respective areas. Prior to the opening program, the faculty of HGNHS led by Mrs. Bactol, utilized the social media in campaigning Brigada Eskwela through posting of computer-generated posters. They also placed a tarpaulin in a visible area enough to be seen by the students and parents. The participants including the 4Ps recipients of Brgy. Mahipon and Bulak invited and assigned other parents, students and alumni who were scheduled to render their service on the following days. There were no physical nor monetary donations during the activities but the participants willingly rendered free manpower services which include grass cutting, brooming of litters, proper disposal of wastes, helping the teachers in cleaning the classrooms and etc.
