The table below gives information about consumer spending on different items in five

different states in 2014.

The table illustrates information about expenditures which were spent by the inhabitants of
five different countries on three various categories in 2014. At first glance, it is clear that all
countries spent most on food and drinks, which was almost three times that of the other items.
The lowest expenditure was on leisure and education in three countries.
To begin with, of all five Malaysia countries, the residents of Kelantan spent the greatest
expenditure on food and drink at 30%, nearly one-third of their total cost. The expenditure of
Johor was also high at 29%. While, Sabah, Sarawak and Kedah spent 28.9%, 27% and 26.9%
showed near percent in this case which the proportions were close to one another.
People in Sarawak illustrated the most expenditures on clothing and footwear with 9% as
opposed to the lowest expenditure which could be seen in Kelantan 5.5%. Noteworthy is to
mention that statistics in other three countries spent from 6.5% to 7% respectively.
Leisure /education was reported as the lowest cost in three states which is below four percent.
On the whole, percentages of national consumer expenditures showed that people in Europe
were more inclined to spend their incomes on food/drinks/tobacco rather than the other
categories.
