PHYSICAL EDUCATION

ART

This past month we have been doing fitness

stations, dances, and paddle activities. Please
check out our websites to get more details
about the activities, as well as looking through
the pictures of your children. While on the
websites, make sure to check out your classes
Word of the Week so your child can tell us
their word to earn a prize! We are also looking
for Velcro and slip-on gym shoe
donations. Please send in any shoes your child
has outgrown that you are willing to donate.

During Art class in February, students finished

their multi-media snowmanadding glitter for a
sparkly effect. Many of these are displayed on
the Art bulletin board in the school!
We also reviewed the Primary Colors (red,
yellow and blue) before learning about the
Rainbow Colors. To help students remember
the Rainbow Colors, we watched a song video
called Rainbow, Rainbow. Ask your child to tell
you what the Primary Colors and Rainbow
Colors are!!
Students then began a project using the
Rainbow Colors. They created a bullseye
(target) pattern beginning with a red circle in
the middle. Then they added a circle of color
around the center, following the order of the
Rainbow Colors! Great work and effort by the
students!!

MUSIC
In Music this month, the students have
learned the song I Can Learn. The students
also played the drums and rhythm sticks.
The students in Miss Conways, Mrs.
Escobars, Miss Gasts, and Mrs. Ochoas
classes had a very successful music
performance! The next music performance is
on March 10th and features the students in
Mrs. Hairs, Mrs. Vegas, Mrs. Borkowskas,
Mrs. Loepperts, Mrs. Ramirezs, and Mrs.
Traimanys classes.
The Black History Celebration and Pleviaks
Got Talent was a huge success!
At home, please encourage your child to sing,
dance, and make music! As always, please
contact me with any questions or concerns.

READING/WRITING LAB
In the reading/writing lab this month, we
started a new unit called, Telling Tales. In this
unit, the students have been hearing traditional
folk tales or stories that have been passed down
for generations. So far, we have read The Little
Red Hen, This is the House that Jack Built,
Chicken Little, Goldilocks and the Three Bears,
and The Little Red Hen-Makes a Pizza (A fun
modern version of this classic story). After each
story, we have been writing in different ways
about the story. Sometimes we wrote about the
characters from the story. Other times we
wrote about important events that happened.
And sometimes, the students wrote about what
they would do if they were the characters. Each
week you should see a writing coming home
from my class. When you see these, please ask
your child to read back to you what they wrote.
