in Teaching And Learning Verb for Intermediate
Year 4 Student.

Abstract
This action research is carried out to investigate the effectiveness of Total
Physical Response in teaching and learning verb for intermediate year 4 student. It
focuses on how to improve the learning of verb in a English language class using
body language. The main intervention is Total Physical Response (TPR), which
follows the idea of how little kids learn their first language, emphasizing the
connection between physical action and verb with the concept. Related to my specific
teaching situation, the research question is Is TPR helps student to learn verb
effectively?. The participants are the intermediate pupils of year 4 student in primary
school which involving 6 respondent. The respondent have basic prior knowledge in
English such as understand the instruction and the structure of language.
Quantitative study is the main method to implement and evaluate the action
research. Data collection method use in this research are document analysis such
as worksheets, survey and observation. The triangulation method is use to ensure
the reliability of the findings. The result from the analysis of 6 respondent shows that
all the students improve in understanding the verb. The findings of this action
research offered great evidence of how TPR can help students to learn verb
effectively and helps teacher to improve their teaching practise.
