PREREQUISITE

Not Required The objective of this course is to develop business research aptitude and hands-on research skills among students. The course has applied orientation wherein students shall learn to formulate research problem, execute them and arrive at solution by using appropriate tools. At the end of the course students will be able to: 1. Students shall develop an understanding of business research as a decision-making tool.

HOURS Introduction to Research Methodology Concept of research and its application in various functions of Management. Research Design Types of Research: Exploratory, Descriptive and Causal Research Research Process Sampling Design: Why sampling, Methods of Probability and Non probability sampling, sample size determination.

II Scaling Techniques & Data Collection Methods Data: Primary and secondary, Methods of Primary and Secondary Data Collection, Precautions in Questionnaire design. Basic Scales: Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, and Ratio. Comparative scales and Non-Comparative scales. Semantic Differential Scale, Likert scale Concepts of Measurement, Measurement Accuracy, Reliability, Validity, Sensitivity, Internal Consistency

Data Analysis & Report Writing Data Analysis: Coding, editing, and tabulation of data. Application of various types of Graphs and charts. Introduction to simple Descriptive analysis, and statistical analysis. Types of reports, Importance of the Report and Presentation, Report format. Precautions in preparing reports. Conclusions, Interpretations, and Recommendations. Bibliography, Annexure, reference and Indexing. Mini research Project. 14
