Introduction

'Quality' is not just a buzz word today. Organizations, world over are using 'quality' as a vehicle for
achieving not only customer satisfaction, but also for improving the organizational performance.
There are a number of techniques & approaches that have been used by organizations in achieving
quality of their products & services.

The quality movement in the 1980s helped Japan in achieving breakthrough success in their
businesses. This prompted the Americans & Europeans to adopt similar quality initiatives in their
quest for achieving success in the market place. India is currently passing through a phase of industrial
& economic revolution and requires a similar approach to become an economic world leader.

Program Objectives

Quality is no longer a responsibility of only the QC department. It is everything in an organization & is


everyone's responsibility. We need to teach quality techniques & concepts to people in all spheres of
work.

The quality is required to be achieved in all types of organizations. Small, medium or large
corporations whether in the manufacturing or in service sector, private or public, all need to satisfy
their customers in order to be successful.

The quality can be achieved if all functions & departments of an organization work together for
achieving customers' satisfaction. Quality has to be a part of marketing, designing, purchasing,
storage, inspection, manufacturing, servicing, product or service delivery, equipment maintenance,
training & HR, communication, and above all of the top management.

This 'Diploma in Quality Management' (DipQM) is brought out with the aim to promote the
concepts of quality at all levels in organizations and prepare people to be ready to deal with the
challenges of the global market. This will not only improve the skills of the individuals, but shall also
impart a competitive advantage to the organizations where they work.

This diploma will enhance the career prospects of the fresh graduates or working professionals. It will
not only provide the students with theoretical aspects of quality management, but will also help them
understand the practical approaches in implementation of this subject in organizations.

Eligibility Requirements

There is no formal minimum prescribed qualification for joining this diploma program.
The students are expected to have good learning ability in English. Further, having good arithmetic / analytical
skills will be an added advantage.

Course Administration & Duration


‘DipQM' is a distance learning program administered by 'Quality Professionals Group (QPG)'. The program
consists of course materials, assignments & case studies prepared by highly qualified & trained professionals of
QPG.
On enrollment, the students will receive the course materials on different modules of the diploma program in
periodic installments. The DipQM requires around 100 hrs. of self study by the students for the completion of
the program.
The normal duration of the course is six months. However, the students can plan their studies at a flexible pace
suitable to them. They are at liberty to complete the diploma within a period ranging from 3 months to 9 months
after enrollment.
Examination & Award of Diploma
On completion of assignments & the required study, the students are required to appear in an online
examination made available to them on the internet. Alternatively, the students not having an access to internet
will be required to submit the hard copies of their solved examination papers through post.
On successful completion of the criteria for the program, the students will be awarded 'Diploma in Quality
Management (DipQM)' issued by BSI Management Systems.
