    High Voltage Safety Course (Based on IMCA and IMO Guidelines)

    The course has been certified in accordance with DNV standards for Certification for Learning Programmes 3.201. The High Voltage Safety course meets, in general, but not restricted to, the requirements of IMCA C 010 Stage 1 Introduction to Electrical Safety. Objective The objective of this course is to provide the engineers/electrical officer/ETOs and other technicians working in the marine/offshore industry a platform to understand and apply the safety aspects to be adhered to while working on the high voltage equipment/area. As the high voltage applications have great use in electrical propulsion/drive systems, it would be also taken into consideration to discuss various aspects and understand the basics of electrical propulsion therein highlighting the safety aspects. Target audience The high Voltage safety course is aimed at providing the Engineers/Electricians/Electrical officers/Technicians/operators, working in marine/offshore/ industrial sectors, an opportunity to learn the safety aspects while working on the high voltage equipment/areas. Content of course On completion of the course the participants should be able to demonstrate the knowledge to work on high voltage equipment/environment. The course also aims to impart knowledge about the high voltage standards, terms and terminology, safeties used while working on high voltages equipment thereby ensuring safe operations. The course participants would be exposed to but not restricted to following topics; Electrical safety definition and practices HV equipment area safety Electrical hazards to the human body Procedures to minimise risk while working on HV systems HV protection devices (circuit breakers) Precautions for live testing Practical demonstration of proving dead test equipment Isolation procedures High Voltage Megger Infrared thermography Earthing systems Course Duration : 3 Days.
