Section A: Queries regarding Eligibility Criteria 1. I have B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication (E & T) and am going to appear for the EE paper of GATE 2012. Am I eligible for this post in POWERGRID? No. Only those candidates who have/ are pursuing Engineering Degree in the following disciplines and have a valid score in the EE paper of GATE 2012 are eligible for the post of Executive Trainee (Electrical) in POWERGRID: (i) Electrical (ii) Electrical and Electronics (iii) Power Engineering Candidates having/ pursuing Engineering Degree in any stream other than those mentioned above, like Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, Electronics and Instrumentation, Instrumentation and Control etc., regardless of having a valid score in the EE paper of GATE 2012 are Not Eligible.
2. I am a General category candidate having 64.9% marks in Engineering. Am I eligible? No. General and OBC (NCL) candidates should have at least 65.00% marks or equivalent CGPA in their engineering degree. 3. I have a Part Time Engineering Degree in Electrical with 66% marks. Am I eligible? No. 4. I have 58.93% in final year result of B.E. Electrical but my Aggregate (4years) result is 65.70%. Am I eligible? POWERGRID shall consider the percentage of marks as mentioned on your final consolidated marksheet. 5. I had appeared for GATE in 2011. Am I Eligible? No. To be eligible, candidates have to appear for the EE paper of GATE 2012 and obtain a valid score in the same. 6. I am a final year candidate. Am I eligible? Final Year / Semester students who expect their results by 31.07.2012 can also apply, provided they have obtained 65% marks in aggregate of all semesters/years up to pre-final examination.
Executive Trainee (Electrical) 2012 Frequently Asked Questions Section B: Queries regarding Percentage/ CGPA 7. My university/institute does not specify the formula for conversion from CGPA to percentage. What formula shall be applicable for me? In case your university/institute does not specify the conversion from CGPA to percentage, the criteria adopted by AICTE shall be followed i.e. CGPA of 7.25 out of 10 would be considered as 65%. 8. I do not possess the proof of the conversion formula from CGPA to percentage adopted by my university/institute. What formula shall be applicable for me? In absence of any proof of norms adopted by the University/ Institute to convert CGPA/ OGPA/DGPA into percentage, the criteria adopted by AICTE shall be followed i.e. CGPA of 7.25 out of 10 would be considered as 65%.
9. When should I submit the proof of conversion of CGPA into percentage? Candidates who are called for interview shall have to submit the documents at the time of interview. Please note the conversion criteria as explained in Question 4 which shall be applicable in absence of any proof. 10. I am a final year student. What should I fill in the Percentage and CGPA fields? Final year students should fill in their percentage till 6th Semester/ Third year only. The CGPA field may be left blank. 11. My college/ university gives only percentage of marks. What should I fill in the CGPA field? The CGPA field may be left blank.
Section C: Queries regarding Application Formalities 12. Apart from appearing in the EE paper of GATE 2012, is there any other way to apply for the post of Executive Trainee (Electrical) in POWERGRID? No. Score in the EE paper of GATE 2012 is the only way to apply for the post of Executive Trainee (Electrical) in POWERGRID. 13. Other than registering for GATE 2012, will I have to apply for POWERGRID separately? Yes. Candidates will have to register at the Online Application System at the Career section at POWERGRID website. The application shall be open from 4th January 2012 to 15th February 2012. There is no separate fee for applying in POWERGRID. 14. Do I have to send the hard copy of my application? No. Candidates have to submit their applications at the Online Application System only.
Executive Trainee (Electrical) 2012 Frequently Asked Questions 15. By mistake I have entered my GATE Application Number instead of the GATE registration Number. What should I do? In case of a mistake in the submitted application, candidates are requested to submit another application with the corrected data. 16. I am a Student in the final year of Engineering. What should I fill in the fields Duration of Course: To and Date of declaration of result? Final year students should enter the anticipated dates of completion of course and declaration of results. 17. I am currently employed. What should I fill in the (Experience) To field? Candidates may fill in the current date, i.e. date of submission of their application.
18. What are the standards of medical fitness? Are there any relaxations in the standards? The standards of medical fitness are available in the Health tab in the Career section. There are no relaxations in the standards of medical fitness. 19. When is the expected date of induction? The date of induction is tentatively scheduled as 1st August 2012. 20. What is meant by Departmental Candidate? Personnel working in POWERGRID (excluding Trainees) who wish to apply for the post are called Departmental Candidates. 21. I keep getting error on submission of the form. Candidates are requested not to enter any special characters (e.g. , / etc.) in the University, Institute or Address fields. For example, if the institutes name is St. Anthonys, candidates should enter St. Anthonys in the field.
