Dear Families,
The room has been established with a series of learning centres that evolve in response to the childrens interests, observations made by the team, the children, educators,
co-educators and intentional teaching. In this document you will find a brief description of the learning experiences your children have been exploring. This document also
links to your childs individual portfolio, so please take a moment to follow the prompts and celebrate your childs learning. This week we have placed a big emphasis on the
children voices and option, asking what they would like to see in this fortnights program.
Date of commencement: 14/10/2013
Area: Group times/Intentional teaching Area: Maths/Science/Literacy Area: Cognition
Weve enjoyed discussing a range of topics at
group time this week, and weve heard that
everyone had a wonderful break!
This week we explored the word Expert. We
discussed the thing that the children are all good
at, and found that although we are all good at
different things, we have a class full of experts!

about the qualities of 2D
shapes, and combining these
2D shapes to make 3D shapes
through play.

Jack talked about triangles and
learnt that four triangle shapes
make a pyramid.

Extension: Explore the qualities of different shapes at group
times.

people, place, technologies and natural and processed materials
5.4 Children begin to understand how symbols and pattern systems
work
4.2 Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem
solving,
inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating

This week the children have enjoyed playing the shopping
game. As theyve played this game they have shown their
ability to cooperate and negotiate socially, take turns and
follow the rules of the game.

Extension: Guess Who game.

4.1 Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity,
cooperation,
confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination
