Mediocre: average, not very well. Taunted: Tease or insult. Bemused: puzzled Inadvertent: not deliberate-unintentional. Contemplated: Thought about-considered. Blatant: Open or obvious (e.g.: a lie) Relish: Delighted in, enjoy. Voluntary: Done or undertaken of one's own free will: (a voluntary decision to leave the job.) Premises: A building or part of a building. Apprehensive: Nervous, Afraid or worried. Truancy: The act or condition of being absent without permission. Confrontation: Face-to-face argument. Peers: People of the same age as another. Self-Esteem: feeling of personal worth. Starting from scratch: Beginning at the very beginning. Sceptical: not convinced that something is true; doubtful Deprived: poor; lacks opportunity, advantage or experience. Flourished: To grow, do well; to be in a period of excellence or influence. (The crops flourished in the rich soil.) Exacerbated: Increased the violence or made worse etc. (a heavy rainfall that exacerbated the flood problems.) Unique: only one of its kinds. Scheme: A systematic plan of action; to plot; an orderly combination of related parts. Sluggish: Displaying little movement or activity; slow; inactive: a sluggish stream; sluggish growth. Aviation: The operation of aircraft. Rigorously: acting harsh or with strictness; thoroughly (a rigorous program to restore physical fitness.) Obsolete: No longer in use; old-fashioned (an obsolete word.) Lifespan: age. Limp: to walk as if your foot or leg hurts. Stumble: to hit your foot against something and nearly fall. Stagger: To walk in an unbalanced way as if you are going to fall. Stroll: To walk in a relaxed way for pleasure. (Stroll in the park.) Stride: To walk quite fast with long steps. (Striding the stage.) Plod: To walk slowly with heavy steps. Recession: A bad period in a countrys economy. Boost: Something which helps and encourages Commuting: to travel between home and work every day. Nostalgic: A bittersweet longing for things, persons, or situations of the past; Homesickness, Bypass: a main road build to avoid a town. Eccentric: unconventional and slightly strange person or behavior. (He noted her eccentric appearance) Hectic: full of incessant or frantic activity; extremely busy. (A hectic business schedule) A nine-to-five job: Regular job. Influence: an effect of one person or thing on another. Whiff: A brief smell; a gentle gust of air. Gilded: Covered or decorated with god. Glow incandescently: To shine with a warm bright light, Pastures: Grassy fields. Enigmatic: Mysterious. Soar: To fly high. Gorges: Steep, narrow valleys. Lush: Growing thickly or strongly. Secluded: Private, hidden away. Robust: Strong. Stranded: Unable to get back. Plunged: A sudden fall. Spotted: Noticed Pampered: too well cared for. Quarry: An animal being chased. Plummeted: Plunged; fell quickly and suddenly. Forlornly: Looking sad and lost. Tumbled: Fell. Jagged: Sharp edges or projections. Sheer: very steep, almost vertical.
