ALL STUDENTS I appreciate the way that many of you have used the Sprigeo.com web site to report
bullying and safety threats. The information you have reported has led to less bullying and
violence at our school. Everyone has a right to feel safe at our school. If you see someone
in an unsafe situation or you feel unsafe, use the online reporting form at Sprigeo.com or
their new app to let me know. You can download the app either from the Apple store r the
Google Play store.


CONGRATS Congratulations to Ms. DeCanio for being selected as a California League of High Schools,
Region 7, Top 10 Finalist! Ms. D. will be honored at the annual CLHS dinner event on
Wednesday, November, 19th 2014 at the University Square Hotel Banquet Hall. The winner
selected that evening will represent Region 7 at the state CLHS convention in January 2015.



SHS BAND & Congratulations to the SHS Band and Guard for earning 2
nd
place in Madera this
GUARD past Saturday. Additional congratulations goes to the color guard for winning the best color
guard caption and to the full ensemble for winning the best visual caption once again. GO
BEARS!!


ALL STUDENTS Learn AutoCADD!!! The drafting program that Architects use to draw houses! Sign up
ASAP! Go to the Woodshop room #304 during your extended lunch period.

GOOD JOB Congratulations to our 1400 students who remained eligible during the first grading period.
If you are one of those students and find the lunch period on Monday, Wednesday and
Friday a little too long why not join an enrichment program? Check your email to find out
about the different activities during lunchtime including scrapbooking, basketball, computer
aided drafting and much more. Read your email and join in!


SENIORS As scholarship information becomes available to you please remember: NEVER pay money
to apply to receive FREE money. That means dont pay anyone to do scholarship searches
for you! Any questions please see Ms. Loving.


FALL PLANT SALE The SHS Ag Department Fall Plant Sale started Monday, October 20th Friday, October
24th from 3:30-5:30 every day, and 2:30-5:30 on Tuesday!


HIA Attention all students who signed up for Hispanics In Action. The first meeting will be held
Today in room 409 @ 12:10pm.


SENIORS If you completed the on-line application for Reedley College/Fresno City College; you will be
receiving an email from SCCCD (State Center Community College District) with instructions
that you will need to follow for completing the On-line orientation, DO NOT DELETE! The
on-line orientation opens TODAY. PLEASE check your email daily. Email is the #1 form of
communication that colleges use.


BEAR SPIRIT Pump up our Bear SPIRIT!!! Buy a Bear pendant from a T-WAM club member or in room
304, the woodshop.


BOYS BASKETBALL Attention all boys basketball players; Any student grade 9-12 that is interested in trying out
for the boys basketball team this year must attend an informational meeting on Wednesday
in Coach Machniks room (1503). All potential basketball players must attend; this includes
those who are playing a Fall sport. Well see you Wednesday at lunch after tutorial in room
1503.

TEACHER OF THE Congratulations to Mr.Stumphauser for being teacher of the week!! He was chosen by his
WEEK students because he wants them to succeed in life and wants the best for them.



CSF Senior CSF Members Only - Please come to Mrs. Lamberts room 1501 to check your CSF
status during tutorial next week.


ALL STUDENTS Students please remember to follow the dress code. Straps must be wider than 2 inches;
shorts must be mid-thigh, no holey pants, no oversized shirts. No red on red. Dress code
is being strictly enforced and the consequence is Saturday School.


FRESNO STATE If you would like to know about the CAMP Program (College Assistance Migrant Program)
CAMP PROGRAM that is offered at Fresno State, there will be a representative at SHS on October 29
th
. See
Ms. Loving in room 1002 if you would like to attend the presentation. It will be held 3

period.


HARVEST TAKE Thursday, Oct 30

The Selma Hospital Auxiliary will be having a Harvest Lunch Take-Out.
OUT LUNCH Menu is: Shredded Beef, Green Beans, Pilaf & a Cookie. Plates are $10 each; a portion of
the proceeds will be used for scholarships for SHS students. For more information please
see Ms. Loving.





SENIORS Boston University is offering a four-year, FULL-TUITION scholarship. The deadline to
apply is December 1, 2014. For more information go to: www.bu.edu/admissions/trustee



SADIE HAWKINS Attention all ladies... It's time to start thinking about who you'd like to ask to Sadie's! The
class of 2018 is excited to host this years "Sadie's Goes 80's" at Cal Skate in Clovis on
Friday, November 21. Tickets will go on sale a week in advance and all guest passes are
due Nov. 5. Get your date lines up because this is one event you won't want to miss!


ALL STUDENTS Have you checked your school email? Important school information, including extended
lunch tutorial assignments, will be sent to your school email. If you havent logged in this
year its never too late to start.


SENIORS Dont forget to pick up your snack pack in Ms. Lovings room, 1002. For each box that you
sell $30 will go towards your senior trip!

CELL PHONES & Please be respectful of the NO cell phone & IPOD rule from 8 AM 3:30 PM. If your cell
IPODS phone is confiscated; A Parent/guardian must come to Selma High to pick up the item. No
excuses. Please be respectful of the Selma High School Rules.


INTRA CLUB Attention all Club Presidents- There is an Interclub meeting in room 1005 at the beginning
MEETING of the extended lunch, on Wednesday, October 22
nd
to cover important information and
opportunities for your club. It is important that every club is represented. If you cannot
attend, please send another member in your place. The meeting will start at 12:10 and go
until 12:30. Thank you!



STUDENT PARKING All students who drive to school need to obtain a parking permit! You can pick up an
PERMIT application in the front office with Mrs. Salinas or see Lucy. There is no cost for a parking
permit and only need a copy of their Drivers License and current insurance card.


SENIOR ORDERS Reminder to all seniors that Jostens will be on campus on Thursday and Friday @ lunch and
after school to take cap/ gown and all senior graduation orders. If you missed the senior
meeting last week, make sure to pick up a packet in the student office on the
counter.


P.E. MAKEUPS If you need to make up PE credits see Mrs. Sultenfuss.

FOOTBALL Friday, October 24

all Junior Sophomores and Freshmen interested in signing up to play
Football next year, need to come meet in the MPR at Lunch. Bring a Pen or a Pencil.


CSU APPLICATIONS Seniors; if you havent applied to a CSU or you need help finishing your CSU application, our
CSU representative will be on campus Nov. 3

to help you. See Ms. Loving to make sure
that you are signed up.

BIBLE CLUB/ Rising Generation will be meeting Thursday in room 2310 at 12:45. See you there!
RISING GENERATION


FFF (Food Fashion Fun) Club meeting will be Wednesday right after tutorial in 705, Halloween
pumpkin decorating. Please show up if you are planning to bring a pumpkin to carve during
lunchtime so we know what to plan for. Also have small pumpkins that can be
decorated. Get creative!!!



All STUDENTS Pinterest class will be starting on Mondays and Thursdays in 1506 after school and classes
will begin this Thursday with some pumpkin decorating.

LINK CREW Attention Link Leaders: Dont forget about your Freshmen! Please remember to stay in
touch and remind them of the upcoming events. Whats the one thing that most seniors
say by the time their seniors? I wish I would have been more involved! Inspire your
freshmen and every student on campus to make the most of every moment and dont live
with the regret of waiting too long to get involved. Your time here at SHS goes fast and the
memories will last a lifetime!

Thursdays Assembly There will be a Secrets Assembly on Thursday for all students. Grade 9 and 11 will attend
periods 1 & 2, grades 10 & 12 will attend periods 3 &4. Please check in with your classes
for attendance first. Attendance will be taken again at the end of 2
nd
and 4
th

periods. Thank you!
