Steve Jobs's Apple
"We started out to get a computer in the hands of everyday people, and we succeeded
beyond our wildest dreams."-Steve Jobs
Apple was established on April 1, 1976, by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald
Wayne.
Apple designs and creates iPod and iTunes, Mac laptop and desktop computers, the
OS X operating system, and the revolutionary iPhone and iPad.
The all in one iMac
Apple's primary desktop computer. The iMac is an "all-in-one" that houses the
computer and drives within the flat panel monitor case. Since their debut in 1998, the
iMacs have been very popular. Like all Macintosh models in that time frame, the first
iMacs used PowerPC chips. In 2006, iMacs began using Intel chips
The first iMac caused a stir because it was the first desktop computer to eliminate the
floppy disk. It debuted as a low-priced Internet-ready machine (the "i") with a CRT
display, 32MB RAM, 4GB hard disk, CD-ROM drive and dial-up modem. Only the
memory could be upgraded.
When LCD screens became affordable, the iMac shrunk considerably. This 2003
model had eight times the memory and 20 times the hard disk space of the first iMac.
Macbook 2.0Ghz
Processor Description
The processor on the MacBook 2.0GHz is the i7-2635QM. It is a quad-core (fourprocessing unit) CPU from the top-tier i7 division of semiconductor manufacturer
Intel Corp.'s flagship Core brand. Although its base processing speed is 2GHz, the
chip has a technology called Intel Turbo Boost, which can increase it to 2.9GHz if the
Mac OS X operating system demands optimal performance. Also featured are a builtin Intel HD Graphics 3000 chipset for graphics processing on the CPU, support for

technology for connecting and synching the laptop to a PDA, cell phone or wireless
headset. It has an embedded iSight camera capable of taking still photos as well as
recording video.
According to Apple, the MacBook Air battery will last up to five hours, depending on
what tasks the computer is performing. The battery itself has been somewhat
controversial because it is enclosed inside the laptops aluminum casing and is not
user-replaceable. If the battery reaches the point where it no longer takes a charge, the
consumer has to return the computer to Apple for battery replacement.
Apple is calling the MacBook Air an environmentally-friendly product not only
because it consumes less power than other MacBooks, but because it has an
aluminum body that can be recycled and an LCD display that is mercury- and arsenicfree. Apple also promotes the fact that the internal cables are polyvinyl chloride-free
and consumer packaging is made from recycled materials.
The iPod Family
The unprecedented king of the MP3 player world comes in several sizes and flavors.
Some models have a screen, some dont. One iPod allows you to view color photos
and create slideshows which can be set to music. Another is great for taking to the
gym to provide a random mix of loaded songs each time you use it.
In the beginning, there was only the basic iPod. A monochrome backlit screen, white
body and ear buds and ease of use set off a revolution which has become a godsend
for Apple. The basic iPod is now no longer so basic. It comes in two storage sizes:
30GB and 60GB. This means that it is roughly capable of holding up to 7,500 or
15,000 songs respectively of the AAC or MP3 music formats. All of these tunes are
stored on the players hard dive, which is similar to the type which stores your files
on a computer. These music files are commonly either downloaded from online
services like the iTunes Music Store or copied from CDs through software like iTunes
onto your computer. The music is then transferred from your PC or Mac to the iPod
through a USB 2.0 connection.
3
In addition to music, the iPod is also capable of displaying photos and playing videos.
For photos, the player is capable of loading thousands of photos (JPEG, BMP, GIF,
TIFF and PNG formats) which can be displayed on its 2.5-inch, 320 x 240 pixel TFT
color display.
With regards to video, the iPod can store and play up to 150 hours (on the 60GB
version) of music videos, television shows and other video programming downloaded
from the iTunes Music Store. This is in addition to being able to playback home
movies converted into an iPod-friendly format through the iTunes software.
On the physical characteristics side, the basic iPod has some features which it shares
with its siblings and others it calls its own. The front of the device sports the two most
obvious: the previously mentioned color screen with backlight and the Click Wheel.
The screen allows you to see the menus you navigate so you can, for example, select
songs and options, as well as displaying current song and artist information, while a
tune is playing. The Click Wheel meanwhile incorporates a touch sensitive function
to allow easy scrolling through things like song selection and volume control.
The mighty iPad
The iPad is a line of tablet computers designed and marketed by Apple Inc., which
runs Apple's iOS operating system. The first iPad was released on April 3, 2010; the
most recent iPad models, the fourth-generation iPad and iPad Mini, were released on
November 2, 2012. The user interface is built around the device's multi-touch screen,
including a virtual keyboard. The iPad has built-in Wi-Fi and, on some models,
cellular connectivity.
An iPad can shoot video, take photos, play music, and perform online functions such
as

and
installing apps; as of 2012, the App Store offered more than 700,000 apps by Apple
and third parties.
There are five generations of the iPad. The first generation established design
precedents, such as screen size and button placement, that have persisted through all
models. The iPad 2added a dual core Apple A5 processor and VGA front-facing
and 720p rear-facing cameras designed for FaceTime video calling. The third
generation added a Retina display, the new Apple A5X processor with a quadcore graphics processor, a 5 megapixel camera, HD 1080p video recording, voice
dictation, and 4G (LTE). The fourth generation adds the Apple A6X processor and
replaces the 30-pin connector with an all-digital Lightning connector. The iPad
Mini features a reduced screen size of 7.9 inches, in contrast to the standard 9.7
inches, and features similar internal specifications as the iPad 2. iOS 6 adds Siri to the
third and fourth generations and the iPad Mini.
The must-have iPhone
Each successive generation of the iPhone has added new features and, in almost all
cases, gotten better. From the original iPhone (which looks kind of old and pokey
now, but was a pretty big step forward in terms of ease of use and multitouch)
through to the iPhone 5, each step in iPhone history has introduced big changes to the
iPhone line up.
The iPhone is a line of smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. It runs
Apple's iOS mobile operating system, known as the "iPhone OS" until mid-2010,
shortly after the release of the iPad. The first iPhone was released on June 29,
2007 the most recent iPhone, the sixth-generation iPhone 5, on September 21,
2012. The user interfaceis built around the device's multi-touch screen, including
a virtual keyboard. The iPhone has Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity (2G, 3G and 4G).
An iPhone can shoot video (though this was not a standard feature until the iPhone
3GS), take photos, play music, send and receive email, browse the web, send texts,
and
receive visual
voicemail.
Other
There are six generations of iPhone models, each accompanied by one of the six
major releases of iOS. The original iPhone was a GSM phone, and established design
precedents, such as a button placement that has persisted through all models and a
screen size maintained until the launch of the iPhone 5 in 2012. The iPhone
3G added 3G cellular
network
capabilities
The iPhone
3GS added a faster processor and a higher-resolution camera that could record video
at 480p. The iPhone 4 featured a higher-resolution 960 640 "retina display", a
higher-resolution rear-facing camera and a lower-resolution front-facing camera for
video calling and other apps. The iPhone 4S added an 8-megapixel camera
with 1080p video recording, a dual-core processor, and a natural language voice
control system called Siri. iPhone 5 features the new A6 processor, holds a 4-inch
Retina display that is larger than its predecessor's 3.5-inch display, and replaces the
30-pin connector with an all-digital Lightning connector.
The original iPhone is made of aluminum and plastic; the iPhone 3G/3GS is made
completely from a hard plastic material, the iPhone 4/4S is made of stainless steel and
hardened glass while the back of iPhone 5 is made of anodized 6000 series aluminum
the same material used in Apple notebooks with inlays along the top and
bottom made of ceramic glass (on the white and silver model) or pigmented glass (on
the black and slate model).
Apples products are described as brilliantly and patiently engineered, with
meticulous attention to detail..in one word: magical!
Notebook or desktop. MacBook Air or iMac. No matter which Mac you choose,
youre getting a computer that features the latest technology and is ready to help you
do amazing things right out of the box.
