Introduction
Necessity of Windows
MS Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroup 3.11, Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT
products of MICROSOFT are already in the market. Basically it is WYSIWYG {what you see
(on screen display) is what you get (on printer output)}. Microsoft is using 32 bit processing
from Windows 95 onward operating system.
Windows uses scalable typeface technology which helps the users to create adorable layouts,
for precision and overall presentation, of any jobwork.
Windows support almost all the printers i.e. Dot Matrix, Ink-Jet, Laser
(Non-Postscript and Postscript) and Imagesetters available in market. Window based packages
are user friendly and have the facility of importing and exporting, which allows user to use
various packages simultaneously for a single job. Windows is multi tasking, multi user
environment, by which many applications can concurrently work.
Windows allows the use of many international packages available in market thereby increasing
efficiency. Vendors like Microsoft and Lotus have developed package like Microsoft Office
and Lotus Smart Suite which have components like MS Word
( Word Processor) MS Excel (Spreadsheet), MS Power Point (Presentations), MS Access
(Database) and Lotus AmiPro (Word Processor), Lotus 1-2-3 (Spreadsheet) and Lotus
Freelance Graphics (Presentation) respectively to cater various needs of corporate segment.
Key Features
Desktop Manager
A unique movable & resizable desktop manager which manipulates all the given below
features at a click of mouse is always available at the top of the window.
Bilingual Typing
User can type bilingual text with matching font sizes for Roman and Indian Scripts without
changing font by using toggle switch. Toggle switch is so designed that it retains the speed of
the operator while bilingual typing.
Multiple Keyboard Option
APS Corporate 2000++ supports most of the keyboard layouts (Typewriters and Computer Text
Editors) prevalent in the market for generating text in Indian Scripts.
This facilitates the user to operate in Bilingual mode from day one, by selecting appropriate
layout. Selecting appropriate layout also increases throughput and efficiency.
Keyboard Layout Viewer
An on-line Keyboard Layout viewer is provided for viewing the layout of keyboard being
used. Layout can also be printed.
Format Conversion Wizard
APS Corporate 2000++ software allows users to convert text generated through various DOS
based text editors (Akshar, Shabdaratna, Modular, Prakashak, LE (.ISC), Devyani) prevalent in
the market through Format Conversion Wizard utility.
Rupantar
It provides interface for conversion of Windows based text, rtf, database Devanagari files from
other vendors format to APS format and vise-versa. File support for Winky, Akruti, ISCII and
UNICODE etc., has been provided.
Sorting Utility
Sorting of APS text from any application can be done using this utility.
Rajbhasha Shabdavali
Complete Rajbhasha Shabdavali with a powerful search engine for easy access and a user
friendly interface for searching and copying Devanagari data to other applications.

Registration Card
Product Registration
VSOFT assumes that user agrees to the license conditions. Please furnish all details in the
enclosed registration card and return the same to VSOFT at the earliest. Please note down the
Registration Number, supplied with the package, for future reference and technical support.
Registration ensures user for entitlement to receive upgrades of existing APS products and
new products as & when launched, at a reasonable cost. Users will be informed about
upgrades of APS package from time to time.
Remember to inform your Registration number for any kind of support.
In absence of registration, support may not be provided.

If you prefer to install APS software in different directory, change the path using Change
Directory button. The following screen as shown in figure # 2.5 will be displayed. Enter the
path and press OK. Setup program will not proceed until proper path/directory is given.

Select the Language options to install. Select English or Language numeral option depending
on which numerals you want to use and use personal Dictionary to install in APS fonts as
shown in figure #2.6.

Operation
APS Desktop manager appears on the screen, as soon as windows is operational.

APS Desktop Manager is a convenient and efficient way to work with APS software. APS
Desktop Buttons are provided for on-line functionality while working with other applications.
Please note that, for basic bilingual functionality, the APS Desktop Manager should always
appear on the screen. All the APS utilities can be loaded using this Desktop Manager. Please
note that except
all other buttons are general purpose utilities, which can be invoked
through any other windows programs.
ABOUT APS
This button provides information about the APS software like package name, version number,
version date etc.

Keyboard Designer
Keyboard Designer helps a user to create a customized keyboard. To run Keyboard Designer
select "Keyboard Designer" Program Item from Program Group of APS Corporate 2000++. This
utility is not available in desktop manager.
Rupantar
This is a very unique utility to convert text (.txt, .rtf) as well as database (.mdb, .xls ) prepared
in other vendors font format to APS Mono or Bilingual font format and vice versa. Multiple
files of a single vendor/font format can be converted in single conversion operation. Rupantar
supports 18 popular vendors font formats like Akshar, Akruti, ShreeLipi, Sulipi, ISCII etc.
Sorting Utility
Sorting of APS Devanagari text from any application can be done using this utility.
Rajbhasha Shabdavali
Complete Rajbhasha Shabdavali with a powerful search engine for easy access and a user
friendly interface for searching and copying Devanagari data to other applications. User can
update this dictionary to add words/ phrases of own choice.
Chitragupt
Text preparation in Text and Rich Text format is provided. It provides all basic facilities of text
editing. One dictionary is provided for user to create word as per his requirements. Both
dictionary are used for providing Devanagari equivalent to English word. Similarly English
equivalent to Devanagari is provided through these dictionary. One can send Email in Indian
language as well as can save file in HTML format. Saving text file in ISCII format in also
provided. Spell Check is provided under Chitragupt.

Browsing bilingual data
Type browse command with font option (e.g. brow font 'APS-C-DV-Priyanka',20) OR
In Browse Window click Font (Table menu) and select APS font from Font list)
Above procedure must be followed in case of APPEND, EDIT, CHANGE commands.
Bilingual data can not be listed using LIST/DISPLAY command. (Font selection option is not

Click Font (Format menu) and select APS font from Font list box and type the strings in
bilingual mode in your program.

Uninstallation and Reinstallation
In case of following circumstances
a. Reinstall Windows OS or upgrade due to improper working

Machine is affected with virus & you have to format the hard disk

Please ensure before uninstalling :
a. APS Desktop Manager is closed, if not exit it.
b.
Please close all the applications before commencing uninstallation of APS Software.

Keyboard Designer helps a user to create a customized keyboard. The user simply inputs the
keys of his choice and save it to an '.ekc' file extension. This file can be loaded into the APS
Task bar enabling him to get the access of the keyboard made by him. User can create totally
new keyboard or can derive new keyboard from existing keyboard layouts.
Creating a new keyboard
To create a new customized keyboard follow the steps below :
1.
Start keyboard designer, click 'File' form file menu. Click on 'Make new' and a sub menu
appears containing the list of languages. Click on the language of your choice.
2.
To insert characters to the keys, click on 'Character Map' or 'Pre-Defined List' button to
view the list appearing below. Select the position of the key to which the characters are to
be inserted.
3.
Drag the desired character from the list with the help of mouse (make sure that the drag
option is on) and drop it to the key of your choice, above. Notice that the selected
character appears on the key at the position which was selected.

Select the appropriate format from the Source Format list by clicking the down arrow,
depending on your input file text format. The default destination directory is c:\apsjobs. It can
be changed if necessary through Directory button. The destination file name is automatically
created, with extension .RTF.
The converted text is in bilingual mode, the default fonts..
for, Hindi - APS-C-DV-PRIYANKA 14 pt. size.
for, English - TIMES NEW ROMAN 12 pt. size.

Steps for converting file(s)
1. In Type/Font Conversion select the type of conversion by selecting the
source and destination vendors along with the direction of the conversion.
2.
Click on Add File(s) button to insert the files for conversion (Make sure that the Files tab
is selected)
3.
Select all the files from dialog box, which are to be converted.
4.
After adding all the desired files click Convert button to convert them.
Note: To add files from multiple folders, repeat steps 2 and 3.
Warning: Be sure that the source vendor/font format selected corresponds with source format
of the file(s) selected for conversion.

Press OK to convert Text of monolingual font in selected bilingual font format as well as it will
set same bilingual font for selected English fonts. For example if source vendor file contains
`Hindi text typed in Akshar (monolingual) and English text in Arial and Times New Roman,
and destination vendor is APS Corporate (bilingual font). After following above given steps
converted file will look like figure #7.8 destination file.

d) If the Show Preview option is selected in Options menu, then after all the source files are
converted, the application will automatically show the preview of the source and converted
file. (See Preview Figure given below)
Steps for converting database tables
1. In "Type/Font Conversion", select the type of conversion by selecting the source and
destination vendors along with the direction of the conversion.

A list of all the tables inside the database will be shown. Select one of the listed table(s) as a
source table.

The application will show list of field(s) of "text" data type present in the selected table. Select
the desired field(s) to convert.

Warning: Data inside the Source table will be modified after conversion so make sure that a
copy of the original data is taken before conversion.
Note :
1.
In case of MS Excel and Lotus - The MS Excel & Lotus sheet(s) will be treated as
table(s). Sheet columns will be treated as table fields.

In case of .dbf files user have to open in Excel and save this in Excel (.xls) format.
Then repeat the steps for conversion as mentioned on page no. 47.
Steps for saving a file in Unicode format
To convert the source file in Unicode format, select "Save a copy in Unicode format" option
before conversion. Converted file will be stored in "apslocal\apscrjobs\unifiles" folder.
Note : This option is available only for files (.txt, .rtf), and not for Database.
Rupantar follows the following convention to save converted file(s):
1)
Destination Directory will always be "apslocal\apscrjobs\".
2)

For example: If source file format is "APS Corporate" and the destination format is
ISM Monolingual then the destination folder for the converted file will be
"apslocal\apscrjobs\ismmono".
4)
Destination file-format will be same as the source file format. For example if source is
file is in RTF format then the converted file will also be in RTF format.
5)
ACII then whatever the source may be (.rtf, .txt), converted file will be stored in ".aci"

If "Save a copy in Unicode" option is selected while conversion then converted the
copy of the source file will be saved in Unicode text format. Destination directory for
unicode file will be "apslocal\apscrjobs\unifiles".
Note:
a) While installation the setup program will ask a drive in which the converted file(s) will be
stored.
b) In case of ACII format this behaviour is different.
Sorting Utility:
By clicking this button you can invoke the sorting utility.
Using this utility you can sort the bilingual data (Devanagari and English).
This utility can sort data from any application. The data has to be in either table format or
simple tabbed text format.
To sort bilingual data
Select the bilingual data to be sorted and copy (Ctrl+C) it to the clipboard. Invoke APS
Sorting utility if not running already. Specify the column or tab position to sort data on as
shown in figure # 7.9.

Decide how many column data to be sorted.
Select the respective column data.
Decide the order of sorting with column numbers on which data to be sorted.
Specify the column separated by comma (e.g. to sort data on 2nd, 4th and then on 1st column

Rajbhasha Shabdavali
Rajbhasha Shabdavali utility gives you Hindi or English words for the respective word you
enter. This utility provides search using wild cards (* & ?), words starting with similar
alphabets or with common alphabets, can be search using this provision.
To search a hindi word enter the corresponding English word in the text box as shown in
Figure #7.10, and press Enter. Select hindi option to search hindi word for its corresponding
English meaning (Confirm APS Corporate 2000++ desktop manager is loaded to type in hindi).

For example the string a* will yield all words starting with a, a list of words having common
alphabets can be retrieved by substituting the non common alphabets with ? characters.

To add a word to users dictionary
Click Add button, enter the English word and respective hindi word and press update to save.
To modify an existing word of dictionary
Click the Modify button to make changes to the hindi word and press update to save the
changes made. To cancel changes press the cancel button.
To delete an entry of word
Move to the word to delete and press the Delete button.
To find a word
Type an appropriate words in English Text box window or Hindi Word Text box window to
search a words or phrases. To Search words click the Find button and the window shown
below will appear. The word displayed can be modified or delete the word.

To save the new file, click the File menu, click Save As and then type a name in File name.

Select a language for which you want to attach the font from Attach font option. (By default
application selects all language fonts for attachment. See Figure # 7.16)

(where fntDev.exe is font installation file for Devanagari script and apssamp.htm is the file
prepared in Chitragupt. If you send a mail from a file with a specific name the htm file which
gets attached will be with same name and with htm extension. For e.g. test.rtf file will be sent as

Dictionary Update
1. Dictionary is available in two copies "Personal" and "Main"
2.
"Main" dictionary is global dictionary. Any user can use it. In case of "Server/Client"
installation, this "Main" dictionary can be modified from "Server Node".

"Personal dictionary is installed in "APSLocal" folder. User is free to use and modify it.
To update (Add, Delete & Modify) words to "Personal" or "Main" dictionary, clicking on the
Update Dictionary menu the windows shown below will appear.
Note : Currently this feature is only available for Devanagari Script.

Click the Add button, enter the English word and respective hindi or Gujarati word and press
update to save the entry.
To modify an existing word of dictionary
Click the Modify button to enter the modify mode, make changes to the hindi or Gujarati word
and press update to save the changes made. To cancel changes press the cancel button.
To delete an entry of word
Move to the word to delete and press the Delete button.

Number Conversion
Click on Number Conversion option in Tools menu. This utility provides Number Conversion
for different units, to convert numeral to words as shown in figure#7.23

Copy Language Text
This button when clicked copies the language text into the clipboard which can be pasted in
any other application .
For pasting the data in any other windows based application
Use copy language text button. Paste the data in the application you want. Ensure the correct
font in the said application is used. For devanagari data select the copied text and change the
font to any of the APS CORPORATE 2000++ devanagari font family.
Using other Text editor files
File from any text editor should be in text format (.txt). If you are using a shabdankan file,
which allows .eng and .hnd formats. Use .eng extension for opening the file.
Keypad
By clicking this button you can invoke the APS Keypad utility.
APS Keypad appears like a normal keyboard as shown Fig # 7.!7.

If the current mode of Desktop Manager will be English, then APS Keypad will display English
characters, otherwise it will display characters corresponding to language selected
(Devanagari) in Script Indicator Button . To type Devanagari text in a particular package you
must first select the package in which text to be typed.

APSTools
APSTools are extended menus and options used for automating tasks, concerning Indian
languages in MS Word and MS Excel . These tools are provided, to overcome certain
drawbacks of MS Excel and MS Word application software, which do not recognize Indian
languages. When certain menus and options in MS Excel and MS Word are used with Indian
languages it gives erroneous results.
APSTools in MSExcel
1. When APS CORPORATE 2000++ Desktop Manager is activated, APSTools menu is invoked in
MS Excel menu bar as shown in figure # 6.1.

Steps for setting Macro options for Spell check in MSExcel
(i) Open a new Excel spreadsheet. On the Tools menu click Options. On the General Tab check
the box Macro Virus Protection on General option page and click OK and close the
document.
(ii) If there is a message asking you whether you want to Enable Macros \ Disable Macros \Do
not open then click Enable Macros and keep the Always ask before opening documents with
Macros or Customisation box checked.

c1. While installing the package, following message comes,

s . Remove 'APS 2PP.INI' file from Windows directory and then install the
package.

You have MS-Word 2000 or MS-Word XP installed on the system. It has Macro Security
setting. If it is high, APS Tools will not be visible to the user.
While typing in dialog boxes you might have selected Indian language mode from APS
Desktop Manager.

While typing in any of the dialog boxes (e.g. File Open dialog box etc.) confirm that you
are in
mode.
