Delivering
premium quality
Its the combination of lens, sensor and processor
that decides the image quality. Canon combines
its leading optical technology with the HS System
to achieve market-leading image quality.
Canon HS System
Image sensors with a larger surface area allow for individual pixels
to be larger, and so are more efficient at gathering light. Combined
with Canons powerful DIGIC processing this leads to improved low
light performance with the ability to use a higher ISO setting without
encountering high levels of image noise.
Lens know-how
Youll experience our 75-year optical heritage in every
Canon lens. The lenses in Canons digital compact
cameras share many of the design and manufacturing
processes that are used to develop our professional
broadcast and EF lens range.
The use of special lens elements such as UA and UD
lenses contribute significantly to size reduction and higher
performance of Canons compact cameras, enabling
compactness without compromising on image quality.
Each model includes Intelligent IS which selects the best
IS mode to correct different types of camera shake.

Full Manual
Control and
RAW, giving
you power over
your images
Despite their compact proportions each camera is designed to give
you swift access to its manual controls. Ultimately, youll have the
power to create the shot you want, with ease through Aperture
Priority (Av), Shutter Priority (Tv) and Full Manual mode (M).
With the option to shoot in the RAW file format or RAW and JPEG
together, youll be able to exercise even greater control and freedom
when editing. The supplied Digital Photo Professional software is
extremely powerful and allows you to do basic image editing as well
as change the white balance, exposure, contrast and noise reduction
at the touch of a button.

Advanced
depth of
field control
The PowerShot S series and G series perform
well in a range of conditions, including low
light. The PowerShot G1 Xs 1.5 type sensor, at
18.7 x 14mm, has a surface area approximately
6.3x larger than CMOS sensors used in the S
series, G15 and G16. A larger sensor gives
photographers greater control over the depth
of field, while high ISO up to 12,800 allows
exceptionally low noise images to be captured
even in the darkest of conditions.

Wi-Fi* support allows cameras to instantly connect
with smartphones and tablet PCs when you are out
and about, and with wireless networks, computers
and printers when youre back home.
Once connected you can upload images online
and instantly share the precious moments of your
life with friends and family using email or sharing

Image Sync** enables easy and convenient back up
of your images to cloud storage or your PC. It has the
intelligence to detect the optimum link for image back
up via a wireless network or PC with internet access.
Once images are transferred on to either CANON iMAGE
GATEWAY, Flickr or your PC, they will automatically
synchronise without any user input.

Flashes
With the hotshoe on top of the G series cameras you have the option to either use a
Canon Speedlite as a main flash for extra light or, with a Speedlite Transmitter (ST-E2),
as a slave unit to creatively light more than one part of a scene from different directions.
With an optional adapter you can also fit either the Macro Ring Lite or Macro Twin Lite
flashes onto the PowerShot G15, G16 and the G1 X to create even lighting when doing
advanced macro photography.
Lens accessories
With the optional Lens Filter Adapter, the
PowerShot G series can also be fitted with a
variety of 58mm lens filters, including a
circular polarizer, which can enrich the
colour of a blue sky or minimise
reflections from shiny surfaces.

Remote switch
As well as a tripod, a remote switch for the G series
cameras (RS-60E3) can further minimise vibrations by
allowing you to press the shutter a short distance away.

Your complete
digital workflow
RAW photography
Put simply, a RAW file is like a digital negative every piece of pixel data captured by
the cameras sensor is preserved, with minimal in-camera processing. Just as a
negative needs to be printed, so a RAW file needs to be digitally processed, and by
doing this a photographer can unlock improved picture quality and extra editing options.
Photographic printing
Canon PIXMA inkjet printers allow photographers to make stunning prints for fine-art
or portfolio use from the convenience of their own home. Tiny ink droplets deliver
exceptional image quality in prints up to A3+. Also, Canon SELPHY dye-sublimation
printers offer swift, photo-lab quality prints of smaller print sizes from a compact,
easy-to-use unit.
