BEST Undertaking is the transportation and electricity.

TPC and MSEB have their generating stations.
From TPS power is made available to BEST at 110 / 33 /
22kV, 3 Phase, 50Hertz.
Electric Power from this system is transmitted at 220/110kV
through overhead conductors and underground cables to
reduces the losses.

History
Since 1926, the BEST has been sourcing its power from Tata
Power.
It provides power to 5 million residential and commercial
establishments and over 33,000 street lights within the city
limits.
The electricity department has 6,000 employees.
BEST has a distribution loss of around 10% (2001), among
the lowest in India.

If there is fault in system the load which has been getting
shutting down is diverted on the other substation till the fault
was cleared hence it is called as Grid system.

110 / 33 / 22 kV Distribution System

Bulk power at 110 / 33 / 22 kV is transmitted from Tatas five
sub-stations through underground cables to BESTs receiving
sub-stations.
BEST Undertaking has installed 110 / 11 kV, 110 / 33 kV, 33
/ 11 kV or 22 / 11 kV power transformers.

Each distribution substation comprises one or more incoming
and outgoing feeders and one or more transformers of
1600/1000/630 kVA.
The outgoing feeders and primary of the transformers are
controlled and protected by 11 KV oil circuit breakers.

supply system is done.
The protection is provided in receiving as well as in substation.
The protection is nothing but protecting the whole power

Definition
The relay is basically a sensing element , which sense the fault
before it will cause harm to healthy system.
To sense the fault to a relay the C.T is connected.

Definition
The circuit breaker is the device which disconnects the two
electrical circuits automatically under faulty condition and manually
under normal condition.
The operation of the C.B is totally depend on the working of relay.

Definition
It is the transformer which stepped downs the high current to low
current.
In The C.T the no. of turns on primary are greater than the no. of
turns on secondary.
