The Acrobat Reader window is divided into two panes. The left pane, called the
Overview pane, displays the manual bookmarks or thumbnails. The right pane,
called the Page pane, displays the current document page.
You can press F1 at any time to display the Adobe Acrobat Reader Online
Guide. This online documentation shows you how to navigate through the on-line
books and use the Find features of the Book Reader.
The
symbol means that the bookmark has multiple topics. When you click on
symbol, it changes to

When you move the mouse pointer over the name of the topic, the cursor changes to

. When you click on the topic name, the page containing that
topic displays in the Page pane.

Enter the text you want to search for in the Find What field.

Select the check boxes for the type of search you want to
perform.

Click Find.
When the Reader locates the text in the document it highlights it.
Once the word is located, you can press Ctrl+G or re-open the dialog box and find
the next occurrence of the text in the document.

Click Search.
The Adobe Acrobat Search dialog box closes and the Search Results
dialog box opens with a list of all the documents that contain the text.

If you close the Search Results dialog box, you can click the
Toolbar to reopen it.

Search Options
You can use the options in the Adobe Acrobat Search dialog box to expand or limit
your search. The options are:
Word Stemming expands the search to find words that share a
word stem with the work you type.
Sounds Like expands the search for a proper name by finding
words that begin with the same letter and share phonetic
features.
Thesaurus expands the search to find words with meanings
similar to that of the search word.
Match Case limits the search to find only those words that match
the case of the search word.
Proximity limits the results of simple AND searches to one pair
of matches per document. The matches must be within three or
fewer pages of each other.

Boolean Searches
You can use AND, OR and NOT operators in the Find Results Containing Text
field to perform Boolean searches for combinations of text.
