The Man of Hour
The Man of Hour
A rags to riches story if there ever was one, Edwin Boboy Hamor has
used his position as the most influential and successful man in Casiguran to
inspire, educate and empower people of all walks of life all over the world.
Little did Sorsogueos know that Boboy Hamor once experienced
impecuniousness. He as a child, like any other, had always wanted to have
material things most of the children in his generation possess. I was very
jealous to the kids who have new toys and can watch television in their
houses. I had to go to our neighbors house just to watch my favorite show,
Hamor recalls nostalgically. Unfortunately, he could never have all the things
he desires. Every day, he would walk several distances just to attend his
class. Even though their family did not have that much money, he still
managed to graduate at Sorsogon Provincial High School, currently known as
the Sorsogon National High School.
His classmates once asked him about the school where he wishes to
study but this question really broke his heart. The sad fact that theyre family
were facing a financial problem, he already knew that he cannot continue his
studies to college specially that his three siblings were still studying. He
remained to be a loving son and brother. He chose not to protest and just
sacrifice for the good of his treasured family.
Unexpectedly, a great opportunity came and changed his life. The
Lions club of Civic Services of Sorsogon was going to Manila by train. What
if I go with them? Boboy thought. He was truly determined to study college
so he bravely took the opportunity and rode the train with the Lions club.
Even though he doesnt know what kind of future awaits him or what kind of
challenges he is going to face when he arrives in Manila, he still told his
parents not to worry about him and his expenses. He thought of taking the
responsibility of supporting his studies alone.
Edwin Hamor took the different college entrance examinations in
Manila. He successfully passed the UST, MAPUA and FEU entrance
examinations. Because FEU offers the lowest tuition in the country at his
generation, the former mayor of Casiguran considered FEU as his beloved
school in college. He was supported by his parents to take part time jobs to
earn and pay his tuition.
Edwin has always dreamed to become a lawyer but ended in taking a
Civil Engineer course. He admitted, My dream is to become a lawyer but I
