1. INTRODUCTION
This method statement describes the method, sequence of work at construction site for
backfill and compaction work.

2. METHOD OF WORK
2.1
Before the backfilling work is started, existing facilities and utilities shall be clearly
identified, removed or relocated where applicable and proper protection from dirt,

2.4 Soil spreading is done layer by layer and directly solidified until the surface or
desired elevation. The soil thickness layer should not be more than 30 cm, and after
solidified, the thickness will be 15-20 cm. things to consider before the
commencement of the work are:
- If there is mud or soft soil in the location, then it must be excavated or removed
before the work starts.
- Solidification must be conducted properly by using equipments such as vibro roller,
stamper, etc.
- Backfilling and solidification must not be conducted in heavy rain condition. Soil
drying will be done by making drainages so that soil will be free from puddle.

2.5 Soil solidification will be conducted by using solidifier devices per layer.

2.5.1 If the solidification space is wide enough, vibro roller with 10 tons capacity is
used
2.5.2 If the solidification space is narrow, baby vibro roller or stamper will be used.
2.5.3 One layer for solidification is about 30 cm and the time is 4 x lines. Or until
reaches 95% dry density.
2.5.4 The cleaning on the all sides of cutting pile can be done. This is can be done
manually by hitting the ground.
2.5.5 The works continue until After the final trimming and the desired elevation is
already attained.

3. QA / QC
Site QA/QC Manager under the direction of Site Manager and Construction
Manager is responsible for supervision of Site Quality Assurance and Quality
Control activities and coordinates project quality control efforts to ensure the
desired results.
QC Engineer and Inspectors will be working under direction of QA/QC
Manager.
Site QA/QC Engineer & Inspector shall be responsible for the followings:
1) Monitors and controls implementation of Site inspection policies and
procedures.
2) Reviews individual inspection / testing procedure for each category of
work, prepared by engineer in charge or Subcontractor to ensure all
requisitions, project specification and codes are satisfied.

4. SAFETY
4.1 Before began to working at site, all worker joint TBM at site, the complete works
force will receive a toolbox meeting, TBM at site consists planning, review for main
civil work, and safety matter.
4.2 Excavation permit where required shall be obtained by the Site Engineer and or
Safety Officer based on the following: a) location of the excavation, b) proximity of

Prior to commence any backfill work and if applicable and required, hard
barricades, signs and warning lights shall be arranged and assembled at the area
of excavation. Likewise suitable steps for safe access for workers and for inspection
