PLATE NO.1: PROPOSED COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE AND FINE ARTS BUILDING
ADAPTIVE REUSE: PUP CONDOTEL
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY:
Designing through a story, by the heart, with a soul: to be able
to create spaces that will affect the quality of life and has
connection and interaction with the people, responsive to the
place, and sensitive to the human wants, need and references
DESIGN CONCEPT:
The proposed college of architecture and fine arts building is
design through adaptive reuse of pup condotel, innovating it at
its full potential to create spaces that is sensitive to the needs
and will be beneficial for the users.
Sub-Concepts:
Form concept: the follows the buildings existing columns and beams.
Renovations are reflected to some parts of the building maximizing the
ventilation and natural lighting.
Spatial function: the spaces are planned and arranged considering the
spaces and rooms that are needed by the different departments and common
areas providing the user convenience and accessibility.
Architectural Style Guide: Adaptive reuse and renovate it and apply
contemporary design that is responsive to the place and to its function.
Design Strategies and Style Guiding principles:
Following the National Building Code, Fire Code and CHED
requirements.
Lecture room size as per DECS/CHED requirements shall be 8.00 mts.
x 9.00 mts. for 40 students. Laboratories/studios vary according to
nature of activity and equipments involved.
All doors must swing out towards the corridor side.
Provide ample movement facilities like hallways, emergency exits, etc.
Safety and security measures.
Provide ancillary facilities.
Incorporating landscapes and common areas that will give School
Spirit
Situate windows and doors to make full use of natural sunlight and
minimize the need for artificial light. Solar tubes and skylights are a
low-cost solution. Use energy-efficient LED or compact fluorescent
bulbs.
Disaster Resiliency
Cost-Effectiveness in construction and design
Sustainability Storm water collection, renewable energy, passive
cooling.
Accessibility for the PWD, follow Accessibility Law.
Zoning proper layout of rooms and spaces per department.
