    THE PEACE PROCESS IN COLOMBIA

    AFFIRMATIVES TEAM LINE


    OPENING STATEMENTS:
    Our topic is Peace Process in Colombia, I believe in this process because its an
    immense opportunity for both the government and the Colombian people to be able
    to take a big step to change. This is an enormous initiative to get to know and
    achieve something as long as peace in a country that has always seen and lived
    the great battle against terrorism.
    PRESENTATION:
    END OF CONFLICT. The surrender of weapons by the FARC for reintegration
    and became part of civilian life by the effects of the legal framework for peace,
    which defines the suspension project subversive judicial process.
    SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM OF ILLICIT DRUGS. The traffic of illicit drugs
    has financed the armed conflict for three decades. FARC propose to prioritize
    the manual eradication as the primary method of eradicating of drugs in
    consultation with growers and producers of illicit drugs.
    Farmers territories will have political, administrative, economic, social,
    environmental and cultural autonomy, and also in the administration of justice
    through mechanisms of community justice. There will be a better distribution of
    land ownership.

    REBUTTAL:

    No existen garantas de que los ataques que se han presentado durante el


    proceso de paz sean cometidos por las FARC, hay muchos grupos

    subversivos en el pas que se pueden estar aprovechando de la situacin para


    crear caos y que no haya cese al fuego.

    What is expected of this process is that all the victims of this conflict become
    participants in the peace talks table to repair all the damage done. When the
    parties reach the stage of implementation, the government will ask all
    Colombians to vote for the peace agreement is approved.

    Experience shows that if the government and FARC trading alone will not
    reach peace. This is why its necessary the intervention of foreign countries
    under the idea of international cooperation and assistance, that is a great idea
    because they can prevent the negotiations are broken

    CLOSING STATEMENTS:

    The main advantage of this peace process is that FARC cease all acts that
    are against human rights such as kidnappings or bombings. To make this
    possible it is necessary that all people, like me, believe in peace.

    PRESENTATION:

    FARC HAS NOT STOPPED THEIR ATTACKS TO THE COLOMBIAN


    POPULATION DURING THE PEACE PROCESS. During the "peace talks,"
    FARC increased their attacks to the Colombian population, increase their bomb
    attacks, and grow their business of cocaine production and trafficking.

    The victims of FARC are not having a direct representative to defend their
    interests, in spite that one of the central points of the negotiation is the victims
    reparation. Additionally, the fact of establishing frames to forgive and forget do
    not exclude the criminal responsibility of those who committed the crimes.
    The peace process negotiations hadnt been successful, as we have seen
    before in Colombia, the government and FARC havent been able to reach an
    agreement, and the negotiations have always been broken.

    REBUTTAL:

    SING A PEACE PROCESS WITH FARC DO NOT REPRESENT THE END OF


    CONFLICT OR VIOLENCE IN COLOMBIA. Signing a peace process does not
    ensure that the most members are agree to reintegrated into society and not
    end up being part of other criminal structures who are willing to pay to
    incorporate ex-combatants into its ranks.

    Las FARC ha pasado muchos aos despojando a los campesinos y agricultores de
    sus tierras, dejando esto como resultado innumerables vctimas del conflicto
    armado, as como tambin desplazados en todo el territorio nacional. Las farc le
    est exigiendo al gobierno que lo doten con tierras para su beneficio.
