Juniors:
Log into CFNC (www.CFNC.org) and create an account.
College representative visits are scheduled at Vance sit in on those presentations and ask questions. Complete the resume over the summer. This information is for counselor/teacher and will be used throughout parts of your counselor & teacher letter of recommendation to personalize the letter and help you stand out to college admission representatives. This does not need to be done if your colleges do not require a letter of recommendation. If you already know who you would like to ask to complete a letter of recommendation, go ahead and ask them prior to leaving for the summer and ask what information they need from you. Unless you are looking for two letters that may sound similar, do not share the same information with the teachers you have asked to write letters. Plan ahead- I need 20 business days to complete letters of recommendation, transcript requests and college forms. Be mindful of your application deadlines and be sure to give me enough time to complete these documents from the date you request them. If you are applying to Common Application schools, use the common application (www.commonapp.org ). If you have two or more schools that use the Common Application. Essay questions for the 2017-2018 Common Application are already available and your account will be rolled over to next year. Therefore, you can begin working on this now, prior to the start of next school year. Senior appointments will begin after the first couple of weeks of school and run throughout the first semester. I will be following the same process as this year where I will be outside of your English class talking with students. Because of the high volume of appointments I have, this will be a student/counselor meeting only but your parents can email or call with additional questions. If you register to take the ACT, be sure to register for the test with the writing portion. Both the SAT and ACT will allow you to select up to 4 schools, for free, to which to send your scores. All test scores must be sent directly from ACT.org or Collegeboard.org (SAT) to the college/university to which you are applying. Vance does not send test scores and colleges cannot view your test scores in unless you send them. If you plan on submitting your ACT score from the administration
at Vance in March, be sure to hold onto your student score report
because you will need the student code listed on the report. Be sure to check the Student Services website regularly for scholarship information and register for Remind 101. GPA and rank can be viewed in Power School. This is confidential information and cannot be given out over the phone or by email.
