    Unit: Argumentative paper


    - Anticipatory Set:
    o Journal: If you could go somewhere where you've never gone before,
    where would you go and why? (Be descriptive). Remember, this
    needs to be a perfect paragraph

    Corrected: "Oh, poor you!" Said Gnarly. "I know what you mean. I have
    a sibling just like that who drives me crazy."
    - Lesson: Go over revisions from the papers
    o Let them know about the grade and the mark up (theres a lot of it)
    o Show them my paragraph from my freshman year in college
    This is to let them know that it is okay to have mistakes on our
    rough drafts.
    The reason why I marked them up is because I want them to
    get it right.

    Titles: Get creative! Look on the onenote for help

    This is how we introduce a quote!

    Analysis: You have to back up your friend that you brought to
    the party (your quote is your friend).

    Titles
    - Titles should captivate the reader
    - Show what you are arguing or going to be discussing

    - Located at the end of the paper (on a new page)
    - Needs to be listed in alphabetic order
    - Needs to be double spaced and 12 point font times new roman

    Capitalizing
    - Lets go through this paragraph and focus on what needs to be capitalized

    The second reason why cellphones could be used as a resource. An article "40 use of

    smartphones in school" states, "Both students and teachers can now find facts within

    seconds." That shows students can improve on their facts. Another example from article "As

    school lifts bans on cellphones, educators pros and cons" states, "after they allowed

    cellphones to be in there school they learned it was a good resource." This shows how people

    are see seeing how cellphones will be a better resource. Using a cellphone as a resource

    could help the students and teachers.

    Commas

    - Reading out loud is a good way to see if you need comas in your paper. Whenever you

    feel like you need to pause there is most likely going to need a comma

    - Lets practice as a class together below


    The second reason why phones shouldn't be in classrooms is because of privileges. The article
    written by John Tlumacki called "Cellphones in School: A Teaching Tool or Distraction? said
    "73% of teens ages 13-17 have or have access to a mobile phone." What that means is it
    wouldn't be fair for the 37% of teens who don't have a phone. Also not all students who have a
    phone are allowed to bring theirs to school out of fear of it getting stolen. An article released by
    WJPS News a stated "Phones would disrupt people trying to learn who don't have a phone. In
    other words students who don't have a phone will feel more anxious about getting one. Those
    are all reasons why privileges make it unfair for phones to be in class, it is only fair that no
    phones should be in class.

    Transitions:
    - As a class, lets add some transitions to this paragraph:
    Frist, Cell phones can be used to capture schoolwork. The article by Andrea Leyden, "40

    Uses for Smartphones in School" states It can be used to take pictures in class." You can take a

    picture of some notes you did not finish writing. Can take pictures of school and homework. The

    article, As Schools Lift Bans on Cell Phones, Educators Weigh Pros and Cons" States, you can

    record class for a reference." You can go back on a lesson you did not understand. Go back on

    what you forgot on that lesson. This shows how cell phones can capture schoolwork in class.
