Ofc Laying Procedure
1.1 The Fiber Optic Cable shall, as a minimum requirement, meet the ITU-T
recommendations G-655 characteristics of 9.5/125-micrometer single mode optical
fiber cables.
1.2 All fibers shall be colored, single mode, double window (1300/1550nm) composite
design with step index suitable for DWDM.
1.3 The Fiber Optic Cable shall be suitable for direct burial in the ground.
1.4 Physical make up of the supplied fiber optical cables shall include single mode fibers
with composite coating on each fiber, loose tube configuration, color coded buffer
tubes, a non-metallic central strength member, filled core, a polyethylene inner
jacket, corrugated steel tape armor and a protective outer jacket.
1.5 Physical make up of the supplied fiber optical cable shall include but not limited to
the following:
1.6.1.1.2 The allowable bending radius for the cable shall be 10 times
the outer diameter
1.6.1.1.3 The cable shall have a minimum resistance of 344 lb/sq. inch.
(600 New tons/sq. cm.) against any crushing load.
1.7.2 The cable shall be delivered on a reel with both ends accessible for
testing purposes. Testing of the cable shall be possible without the need
to unwind more than 2 meters of cable. The cable ends shall be suitably
sealed to avoid the ingress of moisture. Also the cable ends shall be
secured to avoid any damages to fibers.
1.7.3 Both flanges of each cable reel shall be distinctly marked the following.
1.7.3.3 A short description of the cable stating the type and the
number of fibers.
1.7.4 At the time of inspection in Contractor's storage area, if any cable reel of
cable is found or is suspected to be damaged in any way, Contractor in
the presence of the Company shall test the entire length of the cable on
the reel. If the test results are not satisfactory, the entire length of the
cable shall be rejected. No visible defect on the cable sheath shall be
permitted.
1.8.1 ODF is installed between optical line terminating equipment and the
optical fiber cable. It shall provide SC-SC 48 port Optical adapters for
connecting pigtail fiber cords from the optical fiber cable and fiber patch
cords from the optical equipment.
1.8.2 All optical fibers of the cable shall terminate to the optical bulkhead
adaptors via the single mode optical fiber pigtail assemblies. The optical
fibers shall be spliced to the single mode optical fiber assemblies within
the terminal joint box.
1.8.3 ODF Rack supplied shall be 19 inch type conforming to latest ITU
CEPT and ETSI standards. Each rack shall be capable of housing the
required number of fiber termination and distribution panels.
1.8.4 The capacity of the ODF at each location shall be suitable to terminate
fiber optic cables with SC connectors for all location unless instructed
by the company.
1.8.6.3 Sufficient tray areas for excess optical fiber storage with
provision to assure that the optical fiber do not exceed
50mm bend radius.
1.8.6.4 Designation strips for identification of the optical bulkhead
adapters.
1.8.6.5 Splice drawer consisting of 3 Nos. of splice trays, each
splice tray shall accommodate a minimum of 12 Nos. of
fusion splices or it shall accommodate all the available
fibers.
1.8.6.9 The ODF shall have enough space between the connectors
to easily plug/unplug the fiber patch cords.
1.8.7 Cable clamps are to be provided to secure fiber optic cable to the
chassis.
1.9.1.1 Tests on fiber optic cable tests shall be performed both before
and after installation in accordance with the Companys
testing requirements.
1.9.1.2 Before installation and with the cable still on the reel the
cable shall be inspected to ensure the following:
