Shipping moves over 80% of the worlds commodities and transfers approximately 3 to 5
billion tonnes of ballast water internationally each year.
A similar volume may also be transferred domestically within countries and regions each
year.
Ballast water is absolutely essential to the safe and efficient operation of modern
shipping, providing balance and stability to un-laden ships.
However, it may also pose a serious ecological, economic and health threat.

Operation Principle
Filtration Mode: Water flows from the inlet (1) to the outlet (8) through the filter
element (2).
The Cleaning Process starts as soon as the head loss (P) across the filter reaches the
preset value [recommended 0.5 bar (7psi)]
Flushing Mode: The flushing valve (7) opens and the pressure in the flushing
chamber (6) and in the dirt collector (3) is lowered, creating a suction process via the
suction nozzles (4). The flushing water carrying the dirt flows to the dirt collector (3)
and, from there, through the flushing valve (7) out of the filter.
The electric motor (5) simultaneously rotates the dirt collector and moves it along its
axes.
The entire flushing process takes 15 seconds for SBW Filters and 15-40 seconds for
MBW Filters.
The water supply is uninterrupted during the entire process.
