    FROM THE DESK OF MRS. BARENBRUGGE Long Range Plan


    This is an exciting time at Redeemer Lutheran School. We recently held a long range planning meeting with a small group of school parents and church members. The group has some great ideas for the future of Redeemer. We looked at some strategies to create a sustainable funding plan to keep the school moving forward. We also felt it was important to find a way to add back 7th and 8th grade permanently. As we solidify this plan, please be patient. We will be publishing the draft of the plan in the next month. Look for a meeting to be held on March 21 st at 6:30 p.m. here at Redeemer, right before the musical performance. Please plan to attend.

    In order to give families a longer time to make re-enrollment decisions, the deadline for re-enrollment has been extended until April 1, 2014.

    All students will be participating in our school wide Science Fair on Monday, March 3 from 6:307:30pm. We invite you to come and see the many creative and informative projects done by our students.

    DID YOU KNOW?


    Pastor Fischer would love to have any families concerned about the future of the school come in and talk with him. He would enjoy sharing with anyone the vision and commitment the church has for Redeemer Lutheran School. If hes not here when you stop in, please let Mrs. Morrison know and she can relay the message to Pastor.

    NO SCHOOL
    There will be no school on Friday, March 14th. The teachers will be attending the Nurturing the Faith Workshop. There will be no day care available. Also, there is no school on Monday, March 17th for teacher work day. Daycare will be available. The cost is $30.00 for the day. Please contact the school office if you are planning to attend. Students should bring a sack lunch.

    CHAPEL
    Chapel each week is led by Pastor Fischer. Chapel begins each Wednesday at 8:25 a.m. All are invited to join us. Each month we choose a special ministry to which we donate our chapel offerings for the quarter. The chapel offerings for third quarter are going to Heifer International.

    OLYMPIC FITNESS
    The Olympic Fitness program for students in grades K-3 will begin on Wednesday, March 12th from 3:15-4:00pm. The program will run for six weeks and the cost is $42.00. Sign -up forms will be sent home next week.

    SPRING PICTURES
    Spring pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, March 18th. Picture packets will be sent home in the near future.

    SUNDAY WORSHIP
    Redeemer Lutheran Church invites you to join us for Sunday worship. Divine services are held at 8:00am and 10:30am with Sunday School and Bible Classes at 9:15am. Wednesday, March 5 begins Lent. We invite you to join us for the following Wednesday evening Lenten services: 7:00pm Wednesday, March 5th Ash Wednesday Service 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 12, Lenten service 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 19, Lenten service 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 26, Lenten service

    SPRING MUSICAL
    Our students will be performing the musical Its Saturday on Friday, March 21st at 7:00pm. Mark your calendar and watch for further details.

    EARN MONEY TOWARDS YOUR TUITION


    Would you like to earn $500 in tuition credit? Its simple refer a family to Redeemer. If they enroll at Redeemer for a year we will give you $500 in credit towards your tuition. Have questions? See Mrs. Barenbrugge.

    FLAGS OF OUR FALLEN


    Redeemer Lutheran School will be participating in the program Flags of our Fallen on Memorial Day. The cemetery to which we are assigned is the Mount Olivet Cemetery, at 1342 E 500 South (across from U of U Football Stadium.) We will be placing flags at the gravesites of veterans. Last year they had 4000 flags to place! You should bring a garden weeder tool to use to poke a hole to place the flags. We will have further information as it becomes available.

    BOX TOPS
    The collection totals for the Box Tops are as follows: K1616 Well don 5/6168 Kinderg e 1115 arten 2106 class! 3/4 68 The Kindergarten class is awarded a free dress day, ice cream, and a movie on Friday, March 7th. Keep saving those Box Tops and maybe your class will be the next winner.

    Redeemers first grade class is sponsoring an ant -idling campaign. We would like your help to reduce idling. Did you know that if everyone in the United States stopped idling for five minutes a day, it would be equivalent to taking five hundred thousand cars off the road and saving one point six million tons of CO2? By turning your engine off when parked for more than 10 seconds, you will save money by reducing fuel use. You will breathe easier by preventing unhealthy exhaust from building up in and around your car, and you will protect the blue sky by reducing idling emissions that contribute to smog, because 10 seconds of idling uses more fuel than restarting your engine.     Remember to Turn your key and be idle free!


    We will be running an Idle-Free campaign for the month of March.
