Introduction

Maintaining a safe and effective class room will be achieved by following this
classroom management plan. This plan will include rules, consequences,
strategies, to time management, and the theme of my class room.

My classroom will be a safe and fun place for the students to be physically active. Whether its in the
gym, outside on a field, on a track, or in an actual classroom my classroom will be a positive experience
for all of my students to enjoy themselves. To establish this my classroom will have my rules and
expectations posted in various locations. My class will be a safe environment both physically and
emotionally.

Establishing Rules

Rules

Rule 1-Treat others how you would like to be treated

Rule 2-Come ready to be physically active

Rule 3- Respected the equipment

Rule 4- Have fun

Consequences

The consequences for breaking my rules will be posted along with the rules for my class room. The
severity of the problem may lead to more consequences. My consequences may be overruled by the
schools consequences. I reserve the right to skip levels depending on the severity of the offense.
1st offense

Student will receive a verbal warning and will be reminded of the correct behavior.

2nd offense

Student will be told what the desired behavior is and will have to sit out and do a research activity on
the subject we are covering.

3rd offense

Student will have to sit out and their parents will be contacted and told about the issues we are having
in class

Clothing

Students who forget their gym clothes will be given to take cloths out a clothes box that I will provide. If
there are no clothes I will have an activity for the student to do during the class. If this is a reoccurring
incident I will contact their parents.

Major issues

In the event of a major offense such as fighting or hazing; the school policy will be used to discipline the
student. In the event of injury or fight I will call the office and have someone come get the student or
watch the class.

Routines

Routines are important and can be a way to help control your class. My class will have routines that will
help limit down time in the class. The routines will help improve my class atmosphere and help get all of
my students on the same page.

Starting/Stopping

In my class I will use a whistle and vocal commands to start and stop my class. To get my students
attention I will blow a whistle this will be more effective than my voice because they gym can be a loud
place. Once I have my students attention I will use vocal commands to instruct them on what to do
next.

Entering/Leaving

Elementary- My students will enter the class and I will have a warm up activity ready for them. During
this warm up activity I will take attendance. At the end of my class my students will have a water break
and then line up at the door.

Secondary- My students will get dressed and enter the gym ready for class. As my students are doing
there warm up I will take attendance. At the end of class I will give the students 10 minutes to shower
and change.
Equipment

The equipment for the days class will be organized and ready for the lesson. Students will grab the
equipment when I tell them to and they will put the equipment back at the end of their class. Equipment
can cause student to miss behave so they equipment is not to be touched until the students are
instructed to.

Accidents

In the event of an accident or injury I will stop the class and make sure the injured student is out of the
way and then have the class continue the activity. If the student needs help from the school nurse I will
call the nurse to come and get the student.

Bathroom

Students that need to use the bathroom are to ask me for permission. I will send one student at a time
and the student is to be back in a timely manner. If the student is sick they can go straight to the
bathroom.

Water Beak

Students are to ask to use the water fountain. During high intensity classes I will schedule in a water
break for the class. Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottle to class.

Partners/Groups

I will use the app shake up to put my students into groups. I will either use the projector to display the
groups or I will pass my iPad around for the students to see their groups.

Standards
Having everyone on the same page on what is expected is important. As a teacher I want my students to
understand what my expectations of them are and how they can achieve my expectations. I will get off
to a good start by going over my expectations and rules.

Describe and Demonstrate

The first day of class I will go over my rules an expectations as well as show my students where these
can be found. I will also introduce myself and throughout the semester I will demonstrate the behavior
that I want to see from my students.

Practice

Each day my students will be challenged in different ways. Even through these challenges I expect my
students to practice the rules I have and participate in class.

Provide Feedback

Feedback is important I will provide feedback in a timely manner to my students. This feedback will
come tough instruction during class. I will also provide feedback on skill test and rules test. Feedback is
important because it helps my students understand how they can improve.

Setting Performance Standards

Performance Standards will be listed in the syllabus. Performance standards may vary for lesson to
lesson so at the beginning of each lesson I will go over my performance standards for that lesson. My
students will also be able to find a rubric on my website of the performance standards.

Maintaining Consistency

Consistency is important in education. I will use my rules to help me consistent on my expectations of

my students. I will use rubrics while grading to help me be consistent in my grading. I expect my
students to consistently follow my rules and expectations.
