WHAT IS TAROT?

Throughout history, tarot has always had this reputation of being this mystical,
dark system that fascinates people as much as it scares them. This has been likely
brought about by the whole idea of having some stranger who knows things about your
life he or she shouldnt, just by looking at a bunch of cards. Despite being an absolute
misconception, this idea has always been able to kindle a spark of curiosity in people,
enough to make them hungry to find out more.

Fortune-telling, however, was not tarots original purpose. The first decks (known
as Tarocchi at the time) were used mainly for card games and entertainment. They can
be traced back to northern Italy in the mid-15th century from where they then spread
across Europe. And although single cases of fortune-telling with tarot were never an
unusual event, it wasnt until late 18th century when tarot evolved into a divination
system, developed separately by mystics, such as Antoine Court de Gbelin, Jean-
Baptiste Etteilla, Arthur Edward Waite and Aleister Crowley. They all believed tarot
cards held uncovered mystical properties and even though they worked individually
(and some of them were even in an open conflict) they managed to create a base, on
which tarot continues to exist, centuries later.

TAROT AS A KEY TO YOUR INNER SELF

And now you wonder what pictures on a card, mysticism and fortune-telling have
to do with the modern life in 21st century and how tarot cards, initially invented for
playing, can help you live a better life.

Well, tarots purpose of use is shifting once again like it did in the 18th century.
Instead of occultists, this time it has becomes a tool in the hands of psychologists. The
Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Gustav Jung was the first one, who began to see tarot as a tool
for tapping into the collective unconscious. He also drafted a correspondence between
the Major Arcana cards in tarot and his concept of psychological archetypes, which
represent inherited, archaic patterns and images, universal to every human being.
Basically a fancy way of saying how he was about to match the tarot cards with human
personalities. Nowadays, more and more psychologists have started to recognize tarot as
a tool for healing and human development or as an alternative to classical probing
techniques such as the Rorschach test. Also, tarot readers themselves are drifting away
from the original singular purpose of tarot cards as fortune-telling, to now also
conducting their readings as consultations and providing guidance during times when
clarity is needed.

And that of course, is what has led you to me.

Now, please keep in mind, tarot can never replace therapy or a professional
psychiatrist. But it is an excellent technique for gaining broader, clearer and more
objective idea of our inner worlds. If you approach it unbiased and manage to remain
open-minded toward its insights, you can see certain repeating situations, patterns in
your behavior or reactions that hinder your efforts and make you feel stuck.

You can get a better understanding of why you or somebody else in your life acts
the way they do. And once you have this knowledge, you can work on eliminating the
fear or hurt that prevents you from succeeding.
You can stress less about the areas where you are stuck and invest more energy
where you actually have the chance at moving forward.

You can develop more harmonious relationships by getting to see the other
persons point of view.

Tarot has long surpassed the point of just predictions about the future. Instead it
has transformed into a tool for guidance, self-analyzing and a gentler messenger for the
issues we sometimes unconsciously avoid facing.

Now, there are two ways to use tarot in your life:

ONE, with a certain question;

This method requires a one-on-one consultation and phrasing a questions or

issue that bothers you with the express intention of finding a solution to this one
problem.

OR TWO, to achieve a period of change in the near future;

The second way is a more general approach to consult the cards to prepare you for
an upcoming period of change, and to awaken hidden potential.

This In-Depth Grant Tarot Reading you requested from me is that second
method.

The following 3 cards that you selected yourself a couple days ago will introduce
you to upcoming energies you will experience in relation to your self and personality,
obstacles you are about to face and what how you can solve these obstacles.

WHAT IS AHEAD OF YOU

Insights into yourself/strengths/personality the Magician

(Reversed)

The first card of a 3-card draw is always used as an insight into your self,
strengths and personality during this upcoming period of change.

The first card you drew was the Magician in the reversed position.
The card called Magician depicts a young man, wearing white and red clothing.
White is a color that signifies purity and divinity, while the red is at the opposite end of
the spectrum, pointing to the earthly experience and human passions. Thus the imagery
speaks about the man as a bridge between the physical and spiritual world. In his right
hand the man is holding a wand raised towards the sky, while with the other hand he is
pointing to the ground, which is meant to illustrate the principle As above, so below.
There is a lemniscate sign above his head, representing the concept of infinity. The
symbols of all four suits in Tarot wands, cups, swords and pentacles, are present on a
table in front of the Magician, which suggests that he has all the necessary tools for the
task he is about to undertake.

Astrologically, the Magician relates to the planet Mercury as our conscious,

rational mind, the power of our thought and will, exercised properly in the outer world.
He comes under the number one in Tarots Major Arcana and in terms of Numerology
this indicates leadership, an independent and strong-willed person that is a doer and
achiever.

When the Magician card is reversed, though, it signifies someone that

is out of their depth, lacking confidence, education or the tools needed to
succeed. Or it could point to a trickster, someone who is deceitful and not
trustworthy.

When the reversed Magician appears in a reading to signify your personality in

the moment, it means that you have lost confidence in your abilities to create the reality
you would like to live in. As an initiator, the Magician posses the abilities to bring ideas
and visions from the spiritual world into the physical realm with the sheer power of his
will. But when reversed, he is struggling to do that, because he either feels he lacks the
skills and self-confidence or because he is not disciplined enough to bring things to their
successful completion. Perhaps you feel rather powerless and out of control over your
life situation at the moment. You are on the verge of an entirely new life cycle, but its
only up to you to launch it and at the present moment you are not sure how you can do
that. Things are not going according to plans, endeavors you thought you can easily
handle are now falling apart and theres this overall sense of you being out of your
element. The more you think you can handle it, the more evidences you get that things
are not as simple as you thought they were.

One of the main reasons for this havoc is the fact that you ventured into this
situation without giving much thought to the required skills, education or level of
understanding, you didnt consult with anyone else and went ahead unprepared. Thus at
this point you lack the necessary tools to keep this thing going. What you need to do is
acknowledge this fact and admit that you are unprepared, so you have to seek for help or
guidance. On the other hand, the reversed Magician can be a sign that there is a talent,
skill or some kind of potential you are not exploring at the moment. And you can achieve
far greater things in life if you start to develop and utilize it. You can sense that there is
something deeper of more meaningful you can engage with, but you tend to dismiss this
thought, because of fear of failure or because you think its not something profitable.

In some cases, the reversed Magician can indicate theres someone with a hidden
agenda entering your life right now. This could be a person who is reluctant to share the
entire truth of their actions with you. They can pretend to be someone, but when reality
comes out it appears they have been the complete opposite. So at the moment its
advisable to surround yourself only with people you trust, the ones who have always
been honest with you. Moreover, make sure youre not easily fooled by what people say
about themselves, because not everything will be true. Check things for yourself and
then form an opinion about them.

Obstacles you may experience in the future the Empress

The Empress is a rather luxurious looking card that depicts a young, blond
woman sitting comfortably on various red cushions. The entire image of the card
suggests a feeling of comfort, security and abundance. Next to the cushions there is the
astrological sign of Venus - the planet, which relates to beauty, grace, art and creativity.
The Empress wears a crown of 12 stars, symbolic for the 12 months of the year, while in
her hand she holds a scepter to showcase her dominance. She is the feminine principle,
the Mother archetype and a personification of the natural cycle of growth in nature,
which is evident by the flourishing wildlife in the background behind her and the river
running on the right side of the card.
The Empress comes under the number three in Tarot, which in terms of
Numerology translates as the creative child. In relation to Astrology, naturally this card
is linked to the planet Venus and the Earth element.

As on obstacle, the Empress can signify nurturing, safe and

overprotective environment that aimed at providing you with everything
you needed and was shielding you against the troubles in life, so now you
feel unprepared to make it on your own.

The Empress card is the mother figure in Tarot. She is attentive nurturer to
everything in her life, as she is fully aware that things would not grow and develop if left
without proper care. If this card signifies your background, it means that you come from
a stable family, secured home and loving parents, who have given you all you might have
needed in terms of material security. Normally, this is a good thing, but as an obstacle
this card can indicate that such a past has left you living in some kind of a safety bubble
and youve never really faced problems and sorrows like others did. So when youve
finally left that safe environment you felt overwhelmed and insecure. Suddenly all the
real life obstacles may seem too much to handle and as the reversed Magician suggested,
you will feel unprepared for the challenge.

Of course, the Empress is not necessarily your family, it can signify environment
as a whole. It can represent that you are coming out of a divorce and facing the need to
find a job to support yourself. Or that you have been working for a big, stable
corporation for a while and you are now looking for a way to launch your own business,
only to realize that this involves a lot more responsibilities and things to figure out than
you initially thought.

Another part of this cards message can relate to a difficulty in actually

transferring your projects from the world of ideas to the physical realm. You may have
all those wonderful ideas about a business venture, an art project, or a house you would
like to redecorate, but when those ideas face reality, problems start to appear. You
should be aware that its not your fault. Its just that in paper everything always seems a
lot easier than when you actually try to recreate it as a material product. Youll probably
need much more planning and a lot of patience. Because with the reversed Magician you
will be prone to push for things to happen faster than it is possible. Make sure you are
always aware of that tendency in yourself and give it time if you dont want to fail. Also,
prepare for the pains and difficulties of every creation, because nothing comes into this
physical world easily.

Another challenge with the Empress is that she has to take care of everything that
she creates and this brings a lot of responsibilities and duties with itself. If you have
started a new project in the resent past you may now start to realize just how much more
time- and energy-consuming this can turn out to be. Its not just about creating
something and then leaving it behind. If you want this to work out and survive, youll
have to take care of it and help it grow and develop. It can be either a relationship that
needs sacrifice or constant attention. It can be about an art project that you have
created, but just now realize that you have to go on a tour to promote it. It can be also
about a choice to earn yourself a living by being self-employed, but coming to the
realization that this is not just about working from the comfort of your home and you
need to develop better time-management, organizational and communication skills. And
it should happen fast. Everything that youve initiated will now demand your time and
attention in order to continue to exist.
Guidance on how to address these obstacles - the Judgement

Major Arcana XX in Tarot, the Judgement illustrates a scene that is very similar
to the Christian idea of the Resurrection and the Last Judgment. It depicts an angel
coming out from the clouds in the sky and blowing a golden trumpet to awaken the
dead, which actually correspond to the message of hearing a call from deep inside you,
understanding your true vocation. Below the angel we see the figures of bodies coming
out of their graves to meet this heavenly message with joy, ecstasy and adoration. The
people on the image, especially the man, the woman and their child that are in the focus
of the card, appear to be in awe, ready to be judged.

In terms of astrology this card relates to the planet Pluto, also known as the ruler of the
underworld. It corresponds to the process of deep transformation and rediscovering
your true self.
This card advises you to be prepared for evaluation either from
within or from the outside world. It says you should be ready and open for a
wakeup call or a sudden realization about your true purpose in life.

The Judgement message is usually exactly that you are about to be judged for
your actions so be ready to face harsh criticism or appraise. In relation to the reversed
Magician you can feel uneasy and nervous about this upcoming reality check, but you
shouldnt view it so much as a challenge as it is more of a constructive criticism. It will
help you to separate the wheat from the chaff and to continue with your endeavor in
more productive ways. If such an event is nowhere near in your future, you should
consider submitting your work, plans or ideas to an outside judgment so that you can
receive an objective opinion about how realistic this endeavor actually is. Make sure you
remain open to the negative feedback as well as to the positive one if you want to get a
better idea of what you are dealing with.

The other aspect of this card you should consider is forgiveness and dealing with
your past once and for all. Because the reversed Magician usually denotes some kind of a
blocked new beginning, maybe the cause for this lies in your past experience, which
made you closed off to new possibilities and reluctant to give people a second chance.
Before you can actually be ready to move on and turn the page, you have to deal with
those memories and people from the past that are dragging you down. And the only way
you can do this is to let old issues and disagreements behind you and to never look back.
If you decide you want to give an ex a second chance you have to do this with your full
heart and without a doubt in your intentions that this time you will start from a scratch.
If you continue to hold on to what happen between you two in the past, it will never
work out and you are going to get stuck in the same old issues again. If you want to start
a new relationship, you have to be open to the idea that this is an entirely new person,
who cannot be blamed or accused for the mistakes of your ex partners. You either open
your heart to this person or you dont. There is no other option.
If you keep projecting your past hurts and insecurities into everything new that
comes in your life, youll just be reliving those past disappointments over and over
again. So the Judgement card is advice for you to learn from your mistakes, but also to
forgive yourself and open up to a new and better stage of your life.

ACTION STEPS YOU CAN TAKE
The 3 cards you selected provide a lot of insight into your future and decisions
you need to make. I have drawn 4 additional cards for you, this time from the Minor
Arcana, in order to suggest more specific actions you can take in the outer world in
order to comply with the advices of the first 3 cards.

Three of Pentacles (reversed)

Upright Three of pentacles usually means teamwork and exhibiting the initial
fruits of your labour and talents. But when reversed for some reason youre not fully
ready yet to display the results youve achieved.

You are also not very keen on working with the people around you and your team
is falling apart, usually because those who set the goals to be achieved are not the same
who actually do the work. So they may impose unrealistic expectations on you, which in
turn is making it hard for you to do your job, while arguing with them all the time.

So as an action step the reversed Three of pentacles calls for keeping your plans
and endeavors to yourself at least for now. Dont be so open about what you are
currently doing, because with the reversed Magician there may be someone in your
surroundings who have his own interests in mind and not yours. Keep communication
at the bare minimum and dont reveal too many details. Alternatively, the card can
advise to examine if your work has suffered lately, due to a lack of creativity, suffocated
by impossible standards or inadequate requirements imposed on you from the outside.
If you are not happy with what you do, then maybe its time to reassess if this field or
this particular company is the right choice for you. Maybe it will be better if you try out
some other options as well.

LESSON: Do not reveal too much of your internal thoughts unless you fully
trust the listener.

ACTION: Keep your plans and endeavors to yourself during this period of
restructuring.

Two of cups (Reversed)

Two of cups signifies partnerships and common base for a union. Its not only a
romantic card but also a card about friendships and business partnerships as well. The
reversed Two of cups, however, implies a time in which a connection that used to inspire
and mirror you does no longer complete you and because the distance between both
parties grows, the relationship is starting to fall apart. Some kind of a change happened
in this union and now the conditions are not suitable for one of the people involved, or
for both.

Here the action step reiterates the message of the reversed Three of pentacles if
this union is no longer serving you any good, then you should consider moving on by
yourself. You shouldnt waste time and energy in trying to fix this, because if you are
lacking balance and common view about the important stuff, then it will all go to waste.
Consider what has brought you together in this endeavor and if its still there. That will
tell you if the union is worth keeping or not.

Alternatively, the reversed Two of cups can be an advice about making it on your
own this time and not looking for a partner to lean on.

LESSON: Partnerships, relationships, friendships all change over time. If these

changes are not bettering you, sometimes the smartest move is to let go and move on.

ACTION: Re-evaluate the relationships in your life, and identify the positive
relationships that help you grow, and the negative ones which dont.

Five of Swords

This card is a hint to both the reversed Magician and the Judgement, as it
clearly states that you are in a win-lose situation, a very competitive environment in
which you should watch your back and guard your interests very well if you dont want
to end up disappointed. Now is not the time to be polite and diplomatic, because you
have to stand your ground and defend your interests. Watch out for unfaithful partners
or people who gossip behind your back.

As to the Judgement card, here the Five of swords relates with a message not to
get involve in battles that are already lost. If you know that this person or situation is
not going to change then why bother trying to argue? Its not going to fix anything.
Just decide if this is what you want and if not, leave what is no longer needed in your life
behind you.
LESSON: Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

ACTION: Be polite and diplomatic, then walk away from battles that cannot be
won. Now is the time to focus on yourself, not trying to make others see things from
your point of view.

Four of Swords (reversed)

You have to ensure that you take the necessary rest and peace from time to time,
because in this period you will be more inclined to stress yourself out and invest your
energy in thousands of mental activities in order to escape accepting some harsh
realization. Its alright if this is your way of dealing with heartbreaking news or
problems. Just make sure you pause once in a while to recharge your batteries.

Otherwise you risk harming your health and causing yourself more troubles down
the road. There is nothing wrong with burying yourself in work, because sometimes it
provides a shield against unwelcome and stressful thoughts. Just beware of the tendency
to overdo it and watch for your health.
LESSON: Rest and recharge when you need to. Your body is your vehicle in
life, look after it.

ACTION: Block out at least 30 minutes in your schedule everyday and reserve
this time for meditation and relaxation.

IN CONCLUSION
Finally, these are highlights of the things that are the most important for you in
order to deal with the following period in your life:

What is ahead of you is a time in which you may feel powerless or unable to move
forward with your life. There can be circumstances that are beyond your control or you
can generally feel unprepared to embrace a new stage of your journey. You have lost
faith in your own abilities to deal with hardships and trying periods in your life, because
you feel youve been overprotected or somebody else used to do those difficult things
instead of you. Now that you find yourself on your own, you are not sure you can handle
that kind of stress and worries. However, you should give yourself more credit, because
even if you are not confident or things do not run smoothly at present, the situation will
start to improve once you get rid of past issues or disappointments that have slowed
your progress down. Make the mental effort to break free from the past, accept and
forgive, then move on with your life. Whats done has been done and there is nothing
else you can do to change that. So instead of staying in this sad and lonely place, make
the effort to break free from your past, taking the good with you and leaving the bad
behind.

You can achieve that by leaving groups or environments that have stifled your
creativity and you no longer feel inspired working or living there. You should leave
behind partnerships and unions that no longer share your views or values. If its not
what youve bargained for, then do not accept it. Guard your own interests, because no
one else will. And do whatever you need to do in order to maintain your mental balance
even in the midst of the most stressful challenges. Also watch out for signs of exhaustion
and burning out.
