INNOVATION DAY 2017 POSTER GUIDELINE

1. POSTER BOARD. Each group will be provided one board. Place your poster on the
board during the exhibition day. Please provide your own supplies, including pushpin
to mount your poster.

2. LOGO. Place the UTM logo and Innovation Day logo in your poster on top of your
title.

3. BANNER TITLE. The title should appear at the top in capital and bold letters at least
50 pt. bold. The banner should include the author(s) below the title.

4. CONTENT. Your poster should be in A1 (594mm x 841mm) size in portrait form


with 1-inch margin. Use a sans serif font such as Arial or Helvetica in a minimum
size of subheading 26 pt. and body text 20 pt. Clearly label the graphs, charts and
pictures. Use short phrases and bulleted text throughout the poster. Avoid long
narrative paragraphs and do not set entire paragraphs in boldface or capital letters.

5. The posters should be organized to include the following panels:


i. Abstract. A summary of the purpose, methods, and results. Place in the upper
left section of the board.
ii. Introduction. A concise statement of the objective and background of the
work.
iii. Methods. Description of the apparatus, samples, materials, etc. in some, but
not overwhelming detail.
iv. Results. Graphs, charts, pictures, etc., with a minimum of text to illustrate the
nature of the results.
v. Conclusions. A concise statement of the findings (positive, as well as
negative), indicating future research directions.

6. LAYOUT. Arrange the poster panels from top left to down the column. Arrows,
pointing hands, numbers, and letters can help clarify the sequence.

7. Posters must be set up, on the morning of the exhibition, immediately upon opening
of the Astana Hall (please refer to the Astana Hall hours for proper times) and must
remain on display all day. Kindly please remove the poster before return the board.
