Strengthening The Site-To-Surrounding Relationship

Strengthening The Site-To-Surrounding Relationship
2. Contextual response: existing modular design strategies have little or no response to the
existing fabric of the neigbourhood.
3. Consideration of user type: taking into account varying family structures living in
contemporary urban houses and thus providing for the changing trends through a housing
scheme that incorporates their “type”.
4. Participatory planning: the aspirations of the existing users, potential users and agencies
that implement the project, should have complimenting ideologies in order to make the
execution and corresponding workability of the project more impactful.
Affordable housing projects need to necessarily be executed on government owned land so that the
primary hurdle on achieving affordability soaring land prices- can be overcome and due attention can be
concentrated on creating quality living in the housing.
How do we propose to achieve AFFORDABILITY?
Development strategy
1. Identification of land parcels manifesting inadequate housing conditions, the acquisition of
which is considered under the need for affordable housing as a city infrastructure, rendering its
land cost as negligible.
2. Devising a self sustainable government-to-user interactive model that will insure no exploitation
of the capital involved in the project, and correct utilization of funds.
User sensitivity
1. Site-responsive translation of users’ aspirations in the quality of living space increases its
efficient utilization.
2. Scope of quality personalization spatially creates a dependency on spaces, ensuring
maintenance.
3. Freedom of private space use ensures no additional features to be incorporated.
Community value
1. Promoting the participation directly and/or and directly affected by the proposed programme
will ensure efficient space planning and priority of functions being catered to as per the
communities’ needs.
Aesthetic value
Incorporation of sensible and functional aesthetics in design through macro-level planning write
down to micro-level detailing makes sure of no add-on decorative features.
Sustainable approach
1. Energy saving strategies to keep a low cost of maintenance.
2. Reducing consumption of power and materials by using cost efficient working systems and solar
passive architecture.
3. Reducing garbage output of the project.
Construction
1. Reducing time in construction by adopting apt and refined technologies and optimizing it.
2. Minimizing the waste generated from the project implementation due to prolonging the process
of building.
