3.0 TRAINING PROGRAMME
There is no scheduled training programme by the supervisor. However, the tasks are
given by the supervisor, Mr Ng Wei Tek when available. When there are no particular task to
be done, i was given some books to study, such as tropical houses design, building
standards, building by-laws share by the local authorities and etc.
3.2 Projects
To produce ground floor plan and /first floor plan according to the land title given. I also get
to study the Sales and Purchase (S&P) agreement together with this project.
Get to know the basic character of drawing floor plans and how to plot. Studied about
documents such as land title, S&P agreement and standard interior layout from the book,
Interior Design and Space Planning.
3.2.2 The Cube House
Task given is to produce a full set of drawing according to the amendment made during
construction on site, including the location plan, key plan, site plan, floor plans, elevations,
section, doors and windows schedule and detailed drawings for the client.

Figure 3.2.2 (i)Lift System Details
Throughout this project i have learnt a lot about the basic layout of a typical residential
house, while the special part is the swimming pool. I have learnt about the details of a
swimming pool that is built within a bungalow by drawing the detailed drawings of the
swimming pool, materials used, finishing and also the minimum size of a swimming pool in a
residential house.
Besides, I have also learnt to be aware of specifications that are stated in drawings,
and how they create the phrases are important for the construction to be done. To make
the submission successful, the drawings are required to be rendered with given color codes
for different elements in the drawings. Furthermore, some of the detailed drawings are
obtained from the engineers.
3.2.3 The Bungalow
I was given a set of drawings and required to redraw as it has many mistakes that needed to
be corrected and some elements need to be added into the drawings in order to meet the
local authorities’ requirement before submission. I was also given the task to draw the
diagrammatic sanitary layout according to the building design and produce a 3D model as
the authorities required.

First Floor Plan
From this project, I was required to plot the drawings following their plotting style. I was new
to several things when doing this project. I have learnt the color coding style, the lineweight
style, hatching and so on while doing this project. I am now aware of how to use autoCAD to
calculate the area of the spaces, setting the floor finished level by referring to the land
surveying plan. SketchUp and Lumion was also used in the process. Lastly, I have produced a
3D model of the building using Sketchup and render using Lumion.
3.2.4 Warehouse Design
To design a warehouse for the client who are to produce medical usage items by using
machineries. Given floor plans, i were to design a 3D model and produce drawings in order
to propose to the client.
Figure 3.2.4(b) Second Floor Plan, Roof Plan, Upper Roof Plan
Figure 3.2.4(c) 3D Design in SketchUp
Through this project, i have plenty of struggle as the requirement from the client is different
from what i have get in touch with before. Starting with the basic structure, and from there,
facade is designed after several days of brainstorming. Design was discussed with my
supervisor and amendments were made during this project.
3.2.5 Shoplot
I was given a land title document and the requirement from the client. Given Task is to
calculate the gross floor area (GFA) that can be built within this property.
By using the knowledge of Building by-law I have studied during the period when I have no
particular work. When the given task is completed and the result of the land from the
proposal from the client cannot be done as the land with setback area is too small for their
request. Besides, I have learnt how to read a land title and redraw the land using the
information given in the land title, according to the size and the bearing. Lastly, throughout
this project, i am also more familiar with the by-law requirement from the local authorities
now.
3.3 Consultant Meetings, Client Meetings, site Visits & Local Authority Submission
I was given a good opportunity to get involved in the meeting with DBKL suring the site visit to
a carpark building that is 90% completed in Pekan Kepong. Besides, I’ve also visited the site
in Intan Baiduri for an inspection activity with my colleague.
During these site visits, I was also involved in meeting with DBKL. It was an eye opening
experience and opportunity to learn among the consultants and authorities through
discussions.
It was my first time visiting a construction site which is still under construction phase.
Wearing safety equipments, I observed how my colleagues do inspections and how the
engineers check up the work by the workers. It was also my first time seeing building method
using bubble slab and also machines such as concrete pumps.
4.0 CONCLUSION
In my opinion, this internship period has given me a very good opportunity to learn more
about the various job scopes, skills and knowledge of being an architecture intern.
All the reflections i have mentioned in the stated projects above are only part of the
learnings throughout the internship period. Moreover, I was given an opportunity to study
about structural drawings. Learning how to read the detail of structural drawings of beam
and column details, recognize each of the elements used in the structure in a building.
Furthermore, I have learnt to be more initiative and dedicated towards the task and projects
given as to ensure they are completed properly. Sometimes when there were no task given, I
have to be self-determined to look up for architectural reference books in order to gain more
knowledge and not to waste the precious times.
Lastly, I feel grateful to be given the privilege to work together with my experienced
colleagues who constantly shared their knowledge and experience with me, help me when
i’m struggling with my work.
